The Royal Oak

I had steak and mushroom pie with salad. While it look great i was disappointed. There very little steak and mushroom inside, it was overly salty and very watery inside. The staffs are great. I would still good back but order something else. To the owner, please check on the food to make sure they are up to par.

Spent nearly $25 on a mediocre chicken sandwich, the thin layer of cheese and 2 pieces of well-done bacon did not compliment the Frank's Red hot excuse for a hot sauce topping. Fries were also well done and dry with no flavor. Massively disappointed and no you will not find anything else worth ordering her unless you have horrible taste buds because that was just trash.

There seems to an inconsistency with the breakfast menu. Some weekends it's available, some weekends it's not. Last weekend we went to the Oak for breakfast. They had run out of eggs so it wasn't available! Couldn't they have gone to the grocery store next door and bought eggs? Also their food is tremendously salty. We like going there because it's local. Looks like we'll have to phone in advance to see if they're serving breakfast. Very disappointing!

The salt flats have less salt then the food here. (South Whitby location). The North Whitby location is a excellent pub my buddies and I frequent often. Food is great, staff are great and always happy I went. However, we decided to hut up the South location this time and we both seriously regret it. Both of us ordered the double smashed burger with cheese amd "seasoned" fries off the specials menu. When the food arrived we both ate a few fries and couldn't believe how salty they were. They were caked in a season mix and was actually burning my tongue. Had a big drink and tried the burger which looked great, salt, lots and lots of salt. In fact, I think licking a chunk of rock salt would be less salty!. I tried to eat my food, but my tongue was burning and after a few minutes couldn't taste anything but salt. The actual meat patties had to have had 100 time the daily recommended sodium not to mention the sauce and fries. On top of all that our sever mostly ignored us, waited at least 20 minutes after we tries to get the bill and had to repeatedly attempt to ask her. Several times seeing us try and ignored us. It was not busy either. Needless to say we will never eat at that location again. Stay away from the south location and hit up the one on Taunton.

After 15mins, finally got someone's attention and asked for the plates and napkins. My chicken sandwich was good, fries wasn't hot. My kids KB mac n cheese, seemed like it was pre-cooked and microwaved when ordered, it was dry, too. No manager came to the table. I asked our server, about the kids meals being microwaved, her answer was "I'm not sure, I can find out for you". Her reply, answered my question. I told her don't bother finding out. Our server was very friendly. Even after I questioned her about the kids meals, she kept a good attitude. Hope this answers your questions. Have a great night!
