This place is a veritable Whitley Bay institution. A traditional seaside promenade cafe serving traditional seaside cafe fayre, where well behaved, dry dogs are welcome inside the cafe. Just the place for a light bite or perhaps an ice cream sundae after a day on the beach.
Best cafe staff are really lovely and friendly. I like atmosphere in there pently of room great views from front. Nice place just to chill with friends and family. When I go down I always like to go there. Would recommend to pepole
Been coming here since childhood.fantastic coffee.fantastic friendly staff .dog friendly which has always been an added bonus to me. Still serving childhood fans ie knickerbocker glories! Banana splits .great ice cream. Fantastic view from the arched windows.i love coming here.
My wife and I stay at the Old Hartley campsite regularly with our two dogs. We walk along to Tynemouth and let the dogs enjoy the beach. On the way back it always a treat to stop at the cafe for coffee, cake and ice cream the staff are friendly and the dogs are welcomed in. We look forward to visiting and would recommend the cafe to anyone.
This cafe has been on the seafront for years, I remember it from childhood when I came to the seaside with my parents & getting a 99 cone from the little side window. It's still popular today & great that they allow dogs in. Nice friendly staff, good coffee & ice cream. On a cold winters day after exercising the dog it's nice to pop in for a hot drink. As I get near to the ramp from the beach my dog usually trots straight up & into the cafe having been in regularly.
The best staff ever!!! So friendly and helpful to our students with special needs and Autism, they make us very welcome each week. Places like the Rendezvous are rare and should be treasured x
love it here xx not been in years but had the most delicious sausage sandwich here today .. love the feel and atmosphere xx even my ten year old said its the best sausage sandwich ever !!!!!
Lovely cafe - and I have always found the coffee great. Not expensive and friendly staff. My mother tells me it’s looked the same since she was a child - so at least 70 years - and that’s what I love about it (and my kids do too). Also you can take your dog inside which is so helpful when it’s freezing outside.
Excellent. Staff are lovely. I visited with two small grandchildren and the staff were very helpful. Will visit again.
Popped in yesterday after walking the dogs with the grandchild . Great service , dog friendly, high chairs available for the wee one and lovely food , the hot chocolate is a treat .
I love this place - not for 'haute cuisine', but you can't improve on the view through those huge windows, nor on the friendliness of the welcome. The coffee is good, too.
Been coming to the Rendezvous Café for 53 years. Used to like the glass Arcoroc cups they had back in the 1960's. We will keep coming until we can't. Love it!
This has to be my favourite place in the World when I'm in the area it's the first place I go for a peach melbour I can sit for hours. friendly staff and always a warm welcome
Mum loves this place:) always a great cuppa and a friendly chat.
Had a cappuccino and a strawberry tart, plus a large latte. Cost 5 pounds, very reasonable and great views from the table. A must drop in location on the promenade.
Great little cafe right on the front with some of the best views in Tynemouth.
There’s a great selection of homemade sandwich’s and cakes to choose from. These can be eaten inside or taken down to the beach.
Prices are reasonable considering the location and there’s toilets right next door.
Caring professional, patient staff. One of which noticed my wife gasping for breath and brought a glass of water - very observant.
Food very good. Atmosphere "home-from-home" comfortable. Lovely scenic views through the windows. Will definitely make a visit next year.
They sell just the best knickerbocker glory ( called Fantasia ) the staff are great and the place itself hasn't changed since the 1930's. And I am so glad for that. It's a place that is just filled with memories of my childhood. You will never get a better ice-cream anywhere else.
Or a better Tuna/Mayo sarnie end of The lady owner is so nice and takes the time for a chat if you want to.
Thanks to all the staff xx
It is super dog friendly, the owner adores them. The scones are to die for. The coffee is excellent. It has a wide range of food on offer
Lovely cafe right on the sea front. Good menu and also does take out from a little serving hatch on the side. Coffee was excellent and lovely sat in the sunshine. Friendly staff & good service. This cafe has been featured in several episodes of Vera on ITV as well, which is an added bonus, if you are a fan.
Love this cafe - called in after walk from Seaton Sluice - was lovely and airy, plenty of space, ham and cheese buns lovely and fresh, lemon slice, milk shake and adult ice cream fab at a great price. Friendly fast service - great visit and would recommend x
Traditional seaside cafe. Loved the experience and breakfast sandwiches. Dog friendly area. Just Great. 👍😊
Best bacon butty ever, the icing on the cake would be HP brown sauce instead of the cheap ones, but I take my own so no loss, lovely view over whitley bay and you might even see Vera 😉
Amazing cafe with a huge menu, ranging from hot and cold drinks to ice creams and bacon butties. Fast and friendly service at a reasonable price. Highly recommend stopping by!
Finally been visit as I was there when I was childhood so nice go back and memories so hot choc and sandwiches is lovely
Positioned on Whitley Bay prom. Close to the beach. I called in while walking from St. Mary's Island to the Spanish City. Dog friendly. Clean. Cheap and cheerful
My favourite place in Whitley Bay. Even though it pretty much hasn't changed in decades, that sort of adds to the charm of this cafe. You can sit and enjoy the amazing views along the prom and beach from here which is very welcome on a cold or rainy day.
They have started putting tables outside which is lovely
Excellent location and ideal for a quick drink and a snack. An iconic building for beach lovers and fans of the TV series Vera.
I use it as the place to take visitors. Typical seafront cafe with fantasic sea views.
It has been used a number of times in TV series " Vera".
Its my study where I do my writing. Staff are friendly and never rush you.
Amazing views and tasty food. Stall friendly and chatty. Reasonably priced.
Very dog friendly.
We came here at the weekend and had a lovely day. The cafe feels extremely cosy and has the sort of food you'd want to eat by the seaside. It's very popular with dog owners since it's about 20m from the beach which has loads of open space to play in. Would recommend visiting the beach and coming here for a snack
You don't go to Rendezvous for Michelin starred food! It's more club biscuits with a view! But you can't fault its location and you can always find something to eat (usually in a packet!).
