Gorgeous food! Afternoon tea x6 for me & my family topped off with the staff singing happy birthday to my mum & i! Lovely surprise as was the vase i was bought from the curiosity shop. Same time next week?
A lovely place to go to eat lunch and enjoy the beautiful garden. Really enjoyed looking around and will definitely come again. The Volunteer staff were very friendly, especially Doreen.
This evening I went with 2 friends to the first evening event at Winthrop. This was a French themed meal and numbers were limited to 24 tickets. I'm sure all who attemded would agree that this was a resounding success. The tearoom was beautifully set up, we were greeted and invited to enjoy the gardens with a pre dinner drink before going to enjoy our meal. And enjoy it we certainly did. Everything was home made and faultless. French onion soup followed by coq-au-vin with creme brulee for dessert and a cheeseboard too. Finally, we were served coffee and mints in the conservatory. A relaxing, friendly atmosphere. So much hard work must have gone in to making the whole evening seem so effortless. I hope there will be more of these events. Winthrop is proving to be a real gem of a place. Thank you and well done to all the amazing volunteers involved.
Lovely afternoon tea for a friends baby shower. Food was excellent. The staff were friendly and the service was great.
Absolutely brilliant afternoon with my little girl
All the staff so friendly. Beautiful food and the gardens so vibrant full of colour and lovely ornaments and the elephant sculpture. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you
Went for my first visit today ...... really enjoyed the talk and look around the gardens. The afternoon was completed by coffee and a ‘natter’ . Well done to you all
Great tea rooms and a really informative tour of the gardens
Impressed today with the beautiful gardens and the lovely people who work there. I think this will become one of my favourite places.
A lovely friendly and beautiful cornucopia of flower beds and some home grown fruit and veg, coupled with a lovely refreshment area, inside and outside if weather permits , serving marvellous home made soups from their home grown veg, broccoli and stilton, carrot and coriander with a hot roll and butter. All very competitively priced. A good place to start and end a walk round the local fields and woods.
Absolutely a hidden gem. Dog friendly. Excellent staff both inside the cafe and the gardens. Well done all of you I know how hard it is when it's run on volunteers.
Would be brilliant if you could open all week in the summer.
Great for meeting up with friends.
Some nice/lovely plants on sale.
Some ornaments, pots,seeds,clothing, etc.
All the normal stuff and a gourmet cafe to eat in.
Enjoyed the look around, was interesting, unfortunately the gallery was not open on Mondays.
As always with these large places, better quality of products but you pay premium price for it.
A lovely garden and cafe run by friendly people. It's very inexpensive and has a nice community spirit..
Fantastic place. So peaceful and beautiful. Its obviously well loved locally and visited by many regularly. The cafe does have gluten free options if you ask. We found that out by chance. They host many community activities from craft classes to memory cafes to meditation circles. Plants for sale too and a mini charity shop on site. We'll worth a look around. Will be going back.
Love it here. The volunteers are brilliant and welcoming. Had a few mothers union afternoon teas here. Excellent
Lovely cafe for a cuppa and light snacks. All staff very welcoming and really friendly. I had tea and homemade scone 😋 will definitely be going again 😊
Lovely garden and cafe. Homemade soup and cakes at very reasonable prices. Friendly capable staff who are mostly volunteers. You can also pick up some lovely plants for the garden.
Gorgeous little garden run by enthusiastic volunteers who make you feel very welcome. Nice cafe and a bonus was that it's dog-friendly.
We regularly visit this place for a memory café. The staff are lovely and the food and drinks are delicious.
Great little Cafe and Gardens run by volunteers. Very nice drinks, cakes and soup at very reasonable prices. Also run events and trips. If you haven't been yet....why? Go! ☕️🫖🍰🍪😋😋
Run by volunteers... with a cafe and curiosity shop... set in well kept gardens.
Went here for the first time recently despite having lived nearby for the last 15 years. It's a little gem. The garden is quite small and it only takes a few mins items to walk round, but it's crammed with interesting and pretty plants and run entirely by volunteers. You can buy plants there too, and there's a little cafe selling home made cakes and light lunches. Definitely worth a visit.
A lovely place to visit. Friendly staff and volunteers. Out door seating area for cafe serving drinks and cakes. Good covid 19 procedures in place. Cash only and you will need a mask to walk round the gardens.
Wonderful. Garden's a credit to all the volunteers
. cafe a credit to Anna and all her volunteers who work tirelessly to make it a pleasure to try all the wonderful cakes on offer. Well done to you all. and many thanks.
