Great down to earth little place ! Relaxing and easy going atmosphere and friendly, polite staff. Lovely food at a reasonable price, which is why I'm going regular whilst in Wigan. Well worth a visit for any vegetarians / coeliacs / vegans or anyone who enjoys a nice healthy meal or snack !! Highly recommend to anyone
This is a great spot, went for lunch with friends and has a really reasonable menu with lots of options for not only veggie and vegan diners, but those with gluten and dairy limitations too!
I had the smoky beans on sourdough with smashed avocado, which was on the specials board. It was really well done and finished off with a magic tea and gooey choc pud and vegan ice cream. Would defo recommend!
What a wonderful little gem of a place. I am a Yorkshire girl who is always looking for great vegan food wherever I go. HappyCow is my best friend! My partner is from Wigan and I found out about The Coven a while ago but hadn't had the chance to visit until this weekend. Now I need to get over the border into Lancashire more often as this place is exceptionally good and I'm going to want to go every time I go up to visit the in-laws!! Wow the food was amazing! It's such a lovely atmosphere in the cafe and the staff are absolutely lovely. Especially the owner whom you can tell is so passionate about what she does. I loved how there wasn't an actual menu as such, just names of the dishes on the board and the owner tells you all about them, like a live menu! It was lovely and such a nice, friendly and cosy dining experience. I can't wait to come again :)
My husband and I finally got to visit The Coven today after attempting to pop in a few times, but couldn't because it was so busy - and now we can definitely see why!
Literally don't have enough nice words to say about this place. For a really (And I mean REALLY) fussy eater who is trying everything she can to convert to veganism, this place is actually like finding Mecca.
My husband had the crispy fried potatoes with fried egg, mushrooms and onion and I had the falafel burger with their homemade chips and OMG. It was all INCREDIBLE. All of it. The ambiance, the staff, the general vibe, the decor, the drinks and especially the food.
We cannot recommend this place enough and we will be regulars from here on in! Thanks so much ladies
Just had an amazing night and meal at the coven...three course splendid vegan food...delicious and recommend unconditionally...thank you x
The food was so tasty, it showed that being vegan/vegetarian doesn’t mean boring food. Can’t recommend this place enough
Really enjoyed coming here with my daughter and my friend Ian Seddon. Amazing home-cooked food, lovely staff, great music! Everything to like about this place.
Fabulous food, lovely friendly staff, can't recommend enough, I'll definitely be back!!
Amazing! Finally somewhere I can get gluten free & vegan food lovely homecooked fresh meals and very tasty!
Amazing food and brilliant friendly staff as always :-) the food options are great and really reasonable prices! Couldn't recommend enough!
Had such a lovely lunch here, the food was amazing, so fresh and tasty. The service was excellent and we will definitely be returning! It’s the nicest meal we have had in ages. Can’t wait for our next visit!
Took my mum here today for brunch and really enjoyed it! Food is great, well priced for the quality of food and portion size. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Good coffee (much better than the highsteet chains) and there's even a bar.
It's my favourite place to eat in Wigan.
Also, easy parking right outside (free after 17:30).
Small but sublime vegetarian & vegan restaurant. If you have any food intolerances let the owner chef know before hand, and you will be beautifully catered for.
I have visited several times now, and the food never disappoints. It's a refreshing change to have decent tasty and varied vegan food.
The restaurant is not without its quirks, it is very small; which I feel does add to the atmosphere, I'd recommend booking ahead if you can, and, oh, the loo is outside in the back yard!
Overall a lovely little restaurant.
Been to the Coven twice now and although I'm not a vegan I really enjoy the food. The chickpea omelette is fantastic. They are happy to cater for gluten free diets and also serve alcohol. Would definitely return and would highly recommend.
Fabulous little cafe. Went on a Friday evening, did book but there were a couple of tables free during the evening.
Lovely lady called sue the owner and chef. Sue will talk you through the menu vegetarian or vegan and gluten free. So much to choose from. Variety of teas too. No alcohol is sold on the premises, you can take your own. Can park outside on the street, spaces are limited. Lovely vibe to the place. Not open every evening, also do take away. Had the Chinese fritters so filling and delicious, you will not leave feeling hungry at all. I myself am a meat eater and I will be definitely returning.
I'm no vegetarian or vegan, Went today Sunday 10th 2019 fantastic food fairly priced it's a must try place I will definitely go again, great freindly staff
Gorgeous little place and will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. I'm not vegan/vegetarian but really enjoyed and would recommend.
Didn't try the food but the oat milk late I had was great. Love the range of milks available, I couldn't choose but the member of staff we were served by helped me out and definitely made the right choice for me. Can't wait to go back and try the food.
Not a vegan or vegetarian, but love the food here. Small dishes available, but I love the hearty potato hash, delicious and packed with flavour - cheese, spinach, mushrooms and onions.
Decor very cool since the move to the Old Courts and the drink selection is as good as most bars. Service is good too and we were welcomed with a toddler.
Whilst there was able to nip in to neighbouring Static Records too. Great lunch overall.
This restaurant was highly recommended to me by non-veggie/vegan friends so I guessed I was on to a winner before I even visited. The plant-based food is delicious and there's a range of choices to suit everyone. The mushroom pasta dish was really flavourful and the home-made cake selection for dessert was impossible to decide between. The service was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Thank you - we'll definitely be back.
My partner and I visited The Coven for the very first time last Saturday and this is our first experience at a vegetarian/vegan restaurant since becoming vegetarians a few months ago. We were both pleasantly surprised of the range on the menu and was spoilt for choice! When we decided on what to have we were not let down, our food was delicious and could tell it was home made which was another bonus. We will be definitely coming back to this hidden gem. Oh, and the staff are very friendly and conscientious too!
