Just had some gluten free fish and chips - would go as far as to say the best I've had! Chips were delicious and fish was so meaty and batter light and crispy. Spot on.
Great fish and chip shop and the best fish and chips I have eaten I highly recommend it ��

Thought i would update from my review 3 months ago, WOW absolutely gorgeous meal tonight the fish and chips perfectly cooked and the curry sauce was my absolute fave tasted amazing �. We were missing a portion of chips but luckily the 2 portions we did get were very generous so split 2 for 3 people, rang Laytons and they were great so looking forward to going back in the week to get the chips and also one of those great looking burgers. Cheers to all working tonight �
Amazging food. ordered beef burger and asked for cheesse and it was Amazging my partner had a a chichen burger witch he really enjoyed as he pretty fussy with food. both with chips. would defo be going back to try other food on menu. ��
Great food and all the packaging is compostable so once you have eaten you can put everything back in the bag and then into your food waste caddy. #plastic

First family trip to the chippy since my stepson got diagnosed coeliac three years ago. Everyone was so careful with the gluten free stuff it was really reassuring. And the food was lovely. Thanks guys!

As much as I am a fan of both cod and haddock, Laytons have been bringing in some amazing fish to try as alternatives and I highly recommend them to everyone.
I had the hake the other week and honestly it was some of the best fish and chips I have had in a while.
Had the cod, cheesy chips, and halloumi cheese all to go. Everything was top notch. Best fish and chips I've had on this trip in the UK so far.

Had a fantastic meal, perfection. I don't know why but I absolutely love the pea fritters. The homemade tartar sauce is wonderful. Highly recommended and meets any dietary concerns such as griddled fish or gluten free.
Sorry only four stars, as you got our order wrong, didn't discover until we arrived home. Shame. The fish and chips was very tasty and fat free. Good service. We will return, and please get our order correct. It'll be five stars. Cheers.
Great fryer, the batter and the fish is always cooked well, light and crispy. Recommend the home made mushy peas too.
Great food, tasty cod with delicious batter. Sausages were fab. Chips were so yummy, generous portions and under new management. Friendly staff and good service. Loved them. Will be back soon, highly recommend. Packaging compostable, so eco friendly!
We are a family of four and all had cod and chips. Good portion sizes and everything superbly cooked. The mushy peas were lovely too!
Yun yum. I Don't have fish n chips often, this probably the 3rd time in 4 years. I had cod n chips was very tasty. The guy was dealing with lots of orders and dealt with them confident and calm. Customer came in had received the wrong order, the guy from back came to talk with him, was very apologetic and rectified his order straight away. How refreshing to see good customer service in action. I deal with it all day and to see this care was reassuring. Keep it up guys you doing amazing job. Would highly recommend.onky one criticism, I had pickle onion and it was very soft, past it sell buy date, didn't eat it as it was rank! Need to check the freshness of them!
Amazing cod and chips, nice light batter, thick fish all cooked to perfection. Generous portion sizes, regular chips are more than enough for a healthy appetite
I tried Layton's on Saturday evening. Everything was excellent, both the fish and the chips were very good. The regular portion size was perfect for me but those who like a whale on half a ton of potatoes would probably want to go for the large. The quality was much better than the chippy in Bishops Cleeve I went to last time I was stopping at Toddington.
I was in Winchcombe for the weekend and my husband and I had fish chips and real mushy peas, really good as was the homemade tartare sauce. Will definitely call in next time we are in the area. Thank you for your good service.
Had plaice and cod with chips, cooked fresh to order and was perfect. The homemade mayonnaise is delicious.
Good chippy in an area with a dearth of good fish and chip shops (too far from the sea I guess). Nice cod and chips. Portions a bit stingy - especially the 'large' curry sauce/mushy peas - stick to small as no difference I can see apart from shape of cup (i.e. one scoop both times I ordered small, then large cups on separate occasions - large should be at least two scoops IMHO). Also, Cotswold 'tax' applies. On a par with Simpsons quality wise.
Excellent cod and chips. They also have "small cod", which is £3.50, and kids & OAP sizes of some of the other usuals. They were busy (perhaps slightly understaffed for the early evening?) so everything was fresh and really good.

Friendly both times I have been here. First time the food however was very avg but went again the other day and what an improvement. Will start to go again here unless it goes down hill. But I definitely can't complain about the staff!
Lovely Fish and Chips. I do not live in the area but was welcomed and very impressed with the Covid-19 precautions. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.
