We wandered here as we didn't know most of the restaurants shut on a Wednesday.
What a blessing in disguise, thankfully we popped in early. Staff offered us a table despite us not having a reservation.
Whilst throughout the evening, they were turning customers away.
There were only two staff members working and the female staff was so polite and friendly.
We ordered the salmon, mussels and scallops for our starters.
For our main, we ordered the mushroom pasta from the specials menu, the pork dish and the turbot fish dish.
Everything exceeded our expectations.
The only reason why I held back one star was, my main was on the tiny portion side and tables were compacted and right next to one another.
We absolutely loved the complimentary starter and chocolate truffles at the end. The mussels cooked with curry and coconut was very flavoursome too. Scallops didn't seem too fresh, salmon starter was pretty but nothing too special.
Would definitely return again one day to try their dessert, we were too stuffed for much else.
Any reason for not a full set of stars is, I believe its not a step free access restaurant as there were stairs leading up to the restaurant.
We stumbled across Francine’s after not booking into another venue as they were fully booked, so we decided to try Francine’s and my goodness are we glad we did! The food was truly incredible, every mouthful delivered a punch of flavour. The food all cooked freshly to order and you can see the effort put into each dish including its presentation.
Located just off the Main Street being a fairly small venue you might walk past and not realise it being there but we are glad we did!
A lovely venue and attentive and friendly staff.

Wonderful food and the nicest service! We love the lamb very much and the restaurant is so thoughtful to prepare lemon water for me to wash hands after using seafood. The free dessert is also very nice. What is so heart warming is we left our caps after dinner and the lady ran to bring them to us. Many thanks!
Went for mine and my partners anniversary meal last night and was the best meal we had while away by far. The staff and service were brilliant they couldn’t help us enough and were always smiling and definitely made you feel more than welcome! We went for seafood dishes (which were outstanding) but there’s also plenty of non-seafood dishes on their menu for anyone who isn’t a fan of fish or seafood. This place is definitely worth visiting if you’re around the area.
This was an amazing find, from the second we walked in the door the staff made us and our dog feel welcomed, the table settings were lovely and decor of the restaurant nice on the eyes and very fitting.
The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish, we even got a free complimentary appetiser and a little chocolate truffle with our bill at the end
I went off the specials menu and got the lobster and langoustine bisque followed by the Turbot which was served with mushrooms and gnocchi
My partner got the scallops starter and the venison bourguignon for a main.
The presentation and flavours were on point and We were both extremely satisfied, we will definitely be going back the next time we visit
Great restaurant for dog owners. Delicious starters and good mains. The seafood pasta was okay. Recommended the chicken liver which is great!
What an absolute gem of a place, lovely friendly staff, amazing top notch food.
Highly recommended, will definitely be going again.
One of the best meals I've had, I had the escargot which were lovely and the seafood casserole which was a huge portion and the seafood was very fresh and still in the shell (which I prefer). The service was also very quick. There are also options for non seafood lovers as my partner had the ox cheek which you could cut with a spoon. Will definitely recommend to friend and family who go to Windermere in the future.
Everyone really enjoyed their meal here, would definitely recommend booking in advance. Food was good, service was very good. Overall, not bad at all! I had the smoked salmon terrine which was very tasty! could've done with maybe some crackers 😂. Seafood casserole was okay, quite a large portion and you have to fight with the crustaceans to eat them. Eton mess was very good. More expensive then a normal meal but you pay for the experience!
Francine's has a great atmosphere, it's why we decided to stumble in. And we're so glad we did. Francine's managed to deliver the quality of a fine dining restaurant with the prices of a high street bistro. Highly recommend.
