We had the alternative afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious! The servers were polite and welcoming. They were efficient in seating us even when we came with a dog so they moved our table into the bar. The interior is warm and welcoming and loved the quirky old fashioned ladies toilet. My only comment would be we weren't offered any alternative to tea after the meal, I would have liked to have had the choice of a fruit tea or coffee. However in saying that the tea was tea pigs which is a really good quality tea. I would definitely recommend and would like to return when I'm next in the area.
We dined at The Wild Boar last week.
Best advice- make a reservation! We didn’t as it was an impromptu stop and the team did take care of us (we sat in the bar areas which was so cozy but i cannot wait to try the restaurant next time).
Food was delicious, service was wonderful and their in house beers are fantastic!
With a roaring fire and a cozy decor I 100% recommend The Wild Boar!
Brilliant place, the food was superb, the fillet steak cooked to perfection! Can't praise it enough, lovely staff, great area if you love walking and close to everything. Big open fires greet you with warming toddy or sherry on arrival, comfy rooms, wellies to borrow, what more could you want. Vicki Holloway (Radford on social media)
We stayed in the log cabins that have been built in the back of the hotel.
The food was exceptional. It’s a very traditional British pub with a great selection of ales and wines.
The food was up there with the nicest I’ve had, the braised beef shin melted in my mouth.
The pie of the day was chicken and leek pie it was huge!
We had a fantastic time at the wild boar. Its a lovely comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting.
The breakfast was beautiful. The evening meal was special.
Some of the staff weren't very friendly 🙄 but Emily on the reception was very Friendly helpful and excellent at her job!
We would stay there again.
Best afternoon tea in the area.
We've been here countless times, we even got married here. Never had a bad meal, always great service and superb food. Thoroughly recommend.
Our first visit in over 5 years and we were delighted. Walking into the bar one chilly evening earlier this week, we were greeted by cosy log burning fires, hophung ceilings, superb beers/wines and attentive staff. The Wild Boar is quite a large old building but with the somewhat haphazard layout and little nooks and crannies it manages to make every table seem cosy and intimate. Lovely, attentive staff, great beers/ wine and lovely food: The perfect Cumbrian pub.
Nice, cosy and quiet place in Lake District. Room decent size and well equipped. Good traditional food well served and tasty. Staff always ready to help and very attentive. If you want to wake up to the bird songs and have great breakfast later Wild Boar is the place to stay. They serve own bakery and beer. Unfortunately could not experience smokehouse. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Had lunch here recently, the food menu is quite sparse but for a reason. Everything is excellent. Can definitely recommend the wild boar burger. Inside setting is lovely and rustic and would be amazing in the winter.
Went for alternative afternoon tea, food was fantastic. Lovely old pub with low ceilings and lots of character.
They were preparing for steak night that looked extremely tempting!
