Had a very relaxing Pamper Day at the Hillthwaite Hotel swim sauna followed by an excellent lunch Rick said the sticky toffee pudding was the best he has ever tasted the cheese platter was amazing the staff could not do enough for us would definitely go back again The views from the Hotel are amazing so Beautiful x
We had an afternoon tea, a gift from family. It was absolutely fab, food so fresh and delish, waiter v nice and made us feel really at ease. The room we had tea in was lovely, it wasnt overcrowded and we didnt feel rushed in any way. Would highly recommend it.
We booked the spa and presecco afternoon tea package and it was absolutely fantastic. Staff were attentive. Food was amazing and plentiful. Would definitely recommend it and I will be back
1st visit, super 3 night weekend away....even with the rain.
Had way too much food, but who would want to stop eating when it is really delicious. Love the desserts....tried most of them between my husband and myself.
We had a large room with fantastic views and our shower was huge.
Loved all the extra treats in our room and the adorable teddy.
Definately would recommend this hotel.
Booked a two night stay as a surprise for the better half and brought our daughter along for our second visit. We had room 11 which had fantastic views. I can't fault anything with our stay - the only downside was having to go home! The recent work to the reception area has been done really well and there are lots of nice places to unwind with a drink while enjoying the views. Jackie and Yvonne in reception are first class as are all the staff including the dark haired lady who tempted me into diving into the rhubarb and ginger gin. The food is fabulous - at breakfast and dinner. Can't wait to visit again - by far and away our favourite place to stay in the Lake District.
Absolutely stunning hotel with fantastic views, over Windermere, from room 35 and even better service from all staff; front and restaurant/bar. The food was delicious, the drinks menu offered an array of choice and the spa facilities were fab for a little relax.
Would absolutely stay here again on a return to the Lakes.
Lovely overnight stay. Room was wonderful, huge bed, jacuzzi bath & glorious views of the lake & fells. Food was very good, both breakfast & dinner. Finally the staff....polite pleasant & very helpful. Great place
Love this hotel, our favourite in the lakes. Would highly recommend, the new additions and renovated rooms are amazing, making this a five star hotel. The staff are exceptional, professional and friendly nothing is too much trouble.
Fantastic weekend, great room, very helpful and attentive staff and good breakfast, what is there not to like...
Our first visit to this hotel for a 2 night break, friendly staff, very good food, good modern bathroom, in a really good position looking down onto Bowness, would recommend and will be visiting again.
Wedding anniversary break - got beautiful room 11 overlooking the front of the hotel and lake Windermere. Lovely food, staff, facilities, leisure centre - would highly recommend.
Thank you for our lovely stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to our friends and family.x
Absolutely wish I could rate higher than 5 stars🌟 !
The hotel is absolutely stunning, beautiful decor, every where is clean and well presented. Everyone we came across that worked here was polite and helpful and engaged in conversation. The views from the rooms and the terraced area is absolutely stunning. We were even given a complimentary glass of prosecco the evening my partner proposed and congratulated by all staff we saw 💕
We had the full package of room, breakfast and dinner along with having booked afternoon tea too.
Each meal was of high standard and high quality. Dietary restrictions were considered and I was informed of what I couldn't have and the afternoon was adapted to ensure I didn't have any allergen foods. The bar was well priced and had a nice range of drinks to enjoy.
The access to the pool and sauna was a wonderful extra, we enjoyed a lovely swim along with relaxing in the sauna. The pool area has full changing rooms and we were provided with towels. Being able to have the area booked for just us was lovely and made for a really relaxing time.
The room it's self was absolutely to die for, free standing bath tub, comfortable bed and just beautiful to look at! We had such a good night sleep both nights we stayed here!
We spent time relaxing on the terrace and enjoying the view.
We both agree we will be back as it was worth it in all aspects.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Took my mum here for afternoon tea for her birthday. Brilliant service, staff were very welcoming and helpful. We were seated in a window with excellent views over the lake, the hotel is situated on a great spot for views of the area. The food was excellent, great scones. Attention to detail when we requested vegetarian. The lounge we were seated in was also dog friendly so we were able to bring our dog too, I've found this to be rare when going for afternoon tea elsewhere.
Overall a fantastic experience!!
An excellent hotel, located on a hill which means you get some excellent views over Windermere! Stayed in room 36, room was nice and the bed was very comfortable! Shower is extremely powerful which is great! Room was replenished everyday with water and some biscuits (some places don’t do that every day). I had to turn the heating down and open the windows as it was a bit like a sauna in the room but that was my personal preference. Pool was good, used it twice and it was quiet both times which meant I could get a bit of swimming in. Sauna was great as well and changing facilities in pool area were excellent. Having a drink or coffee in the conservatory was a bit of a fav thing for me to do and the food was excellent and consistently good as well! Staff were very friendly and a credit to the hotel! A great hotel in a brilliant location.
What a find!
Beautiful room with a fabulous view.
Very friendly and helpful staff Lorretta is a great asset to the hotel, she showed us room 15 and 16. Which are fabulous and we upgraded to room 16.what a lovely stay we had. Will definitely be back.
Thank you. Jayne and Stuart x
Fantastic hotel, beautifully decorated and fixtures, all staff very very pleasant and polite. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was devine, the bedroom was very classy wonderful design and comfort. Would love to stay again and recommend it to any one 10 out 10
This was our fifth visit - it's got to be good to keep us coming back. A well-run hotel in a beautiful setting, with a pool, log fire and an excellent restaurant. It's not far from Orrest Head Viewpoint and has a similar, spectacular view. Lovely walks from the hotel and it's on a great bus route, so you need never touch your car. Friendly and efficient staff make it the perfect place to stay.
We had a fantastic short visit here. A lovely hotel, nice decor, clean with stunning views.
The staff in particular are absolutely fantastic. The woman on reception at the time even dried our pram with a cloth while we left it to dry by the entrance radiator. Very welcoming and family friendly.
The food was also fantastic. I would have loved to give a full 5 on everything but for the sake of honesty the final breakfast before leaving was awful. Really quite bizzare as everything had been spot on up to that point including breakfast the day before where my wife had the same dish. I’m putting this down to a brief lack of focus in the kitchen and that small hiccup won’t stop me fully recommending this hotel.
We will definitely be back!
Very homely hotel. Staff were attentive & adaptable to our needs. We’ve had a lovely stay & would certainly consider going again. Small floor in the room we stayed in was there wasn’t an electrical socket at the dressing table but the mrs shape shifted & coped!
Thanks guys. Lovely weekend!
Just finishing up a Christmas break here. Had such a lovely relaxing time. Food was beautiful, service team are incredible and friendly and the location is spot on. Would have no hesitation in recommending.
It's our first time here for our wedding anniversary and we were up graded on arrival. We have a lovely room with great views over Windermere.
The reception and eating areas are well decorated and have festive decs as well.
Haven't had a meal yet so will post on that later.
We now have had breakfast and a three course meal and both were fantastic with really hot plates and great service especially from Santa, no that's really her name!
To use the pool and sauna you have to book it at least 30 minutes before so they can heat the sauna. I booked it for 3 pm and had the pool for myself.
We will be booking for January for my wife's birthday.
It is high up and has beautiful views of Lake Windermere. It is a lovely warm and welcoming hotel. Ideal for walks both easy and more difficult. You need to take a mixture of clothing with you.
The hotel has a small swimming pool and sauna and there is a booking system so you have the pool to yourselves. The cuisine is excellent.
After reading some of the one star reviews I couldn't believe we were in the same hotel. Our room was beautiful, clean and beautifully decorated to a high standard with wonderful views .The staff were very helpful and courteous. Would definitely recommend this hotel
We absolutely loved our two night stay here b&b & evening meal…top class menus, food was divine, staff were so so helpful, we took our 20 month Labrador and she was made so so welcome!
Spa and pool, after a long days walking was just the ticket!
Room was beautiful even though it was selected “dog friendly” room it’s was impeccable!
Stunning views of lake Windermere as you can see!
Beautiful setting and amazing gardens!
We loved the Hiltwaite and are returning next week for our wedding anniversary + pup in tow!
Great place.
I enjoyed 5 days there, restaurant was good, they accepted my dog (have to book and confirm with them as they have limited rooms for dogs), and gave us a convenient room with an easy exit door for the walks.
Only issue was room was too warm! Even with a fan in it and windows open. Its a cold summer but i think it doesnt justify turning up the heating.
We stayed at Hillthwaite for 2 nights with our dog and was given Garden Room 2 (a classic double room). We had a lovely stay, the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was very nice with a good selection. All staff were friendly and helpful. Our only negative comment would be the shower pressure! I mentioned it to reception so hopefully it is something that can be sorted. We would stay again and would recommend the hotel! Thank you for a lovely stay!
The hotel fantastic the staff are first class the meals were gorgeous I can't wait to go back plus they have a very nice groundsman he will no who put this review in
A lovely hotel. The views from the lounge and dining room are absolutely stunning. Both the breakfast and dinner offer an excellent choice, cooked and perfectly presented. Travelling with a friend, I booked 2 single rooms. The biggest concern in staying in a single room is that you end up in a child size room and a tiny bed- not so at the Hillthwaite. My room was lovely with a queen sized bed. The room was well decorated in warm, restful colours with a superb, very modern ensuite.
There is a little dip pool and sauna, a delight after a days walking. All the staff are lovely, easy to talk to and will help with anything required.
Overall, a very relaxed hotel with a lovely atmosphere AND dog friendly! Superb value. Definitely my 'go to' place in the Lakes.
Superb boutique hotel, lovely accommodating staff, great food & drinks and amazing views. Highly recommended for all visiting Windamere and the surrounding areas. Also dog friendly.
Very comfy and clean room. Also it was dog friendly, with specific rooms available.
