Called in for sunday dinner ,wasn't sure what to expect due to the poor reviews but pleased to say staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great pint of Guinness or 2 and the Sunday dinner was A no frills sunday dinner but tasted good,Yorkshire's and roasties spot on . 5 empty plates says it all.

Staying in White Cross Bay and decided to walk the short walk to this lovely Pub. Landlord/lady were extremely hospitable and friendly. Food was excellent - fresh and very reasonable. Good selection on draft and great atmosphere with character. Would highly recommend!

Popped in here for a quick drink after a long day trekking…. Still here after 5!!! Awesome pub with a traditional feel. Friendly landlord and lady…. Really make you feel like it’s a local. Great prices and great atmosphere. Beavertown Neck Oil on tap which is always a bonus! Staying at White Cross Bay, only a 10-15 min walk, all on pavements and an appropriate crossing when you do need to cross the road. Easy walk. Do not miss this out of your trip!!!

This is a gem of a place and although short on staff, the team and venue didn't disappoint. Food was fresh and tasty. Epic breakfast and great prices all round. Attic room was lovely and one of our friends were impressed with their room on first floor too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Date of stay: mid Aug 2021. We booked through Booking.com, room for 2, with free complementary full English breakfast next day morning. Room number 7, on the 1st floor. Location of the hotel near roadside, close to the Lake. Good condition and clean room with very comfortable bed. The room was spacious with towels, all toiletries and hospitality tray (kettle, tea, coffee, milk, sugar). Staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel offers a car park and Wi-Fi (excellent signal) free of charge. In the evening we ordered 3 courses dinner - it was very nice and freshly made. Also very affordable prices. Next day morning breakfast was served to the tables in the main bar area. Everyone got a printed food menu with standard and veggie ingredients to pick and mix as your own choice. Hash browns quality could be improved, as texture was too greasy and coffee wasn’t the best quality as well. Tea definitely was a better choice. Overall good experience.

Really friendly place, staff will advise you how much to order as it's quite easy to over order. We ordered 9 separate dishes lots of soft drinks and a wine and it was only £77 for 4 of us. Everyone was stuffed. Nice atmosphere, family and child friendly and good quality food , kebab was especially tasty. Lots of options for veggies too. Excellent and free parking.

Very modern room, spacious and clean. Staff very friendly, breakfast was the only let down, very over cooked (hence the 4 star) but all round good experience. Would stay again, just wouldn't go bed and breakfast.

Lovely owners who are very attentive and interested in their guests. Room was very nice and clean and had very comfy beds ( my kids loved the bunk beds ) we also had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant which was freshly cooked and tasted lovely.

Booked online, having both driven and walked past this beautiful old building. Arrived to be met by very attentive staff at the very friendly bar. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, and a comfy bar area. The room was a delight. The bed super comfy, the en suite had a hot powerful shower, and was beautifully tiled. Complimentary tea, coffee, mineral water, and a couple of packets of quality biscuits. All sparkling clean and well appointed. Full breakfast (with veggie options) was included in the modest charge. With 12 rooms, you are never going to be overwhelmed by people. The bar was well stocked. Free car parking just opposite the lane. Breakfast was excellent. The whole vibe was excellent. Special thanks should be given to the staff, who really went the extra mile to be helpful and attentive. Highly recommended. And super staff.

Car parking available with a couple of disabled spaces across a quiet road. entrance is wheelchair friendly. Had a nice pint of Wainwright's we ordered the roast beef and roast turkey dinner it was presented nicely and was very tasty. Fresh produce (by which I mean not aunt Bessie's) and real Yorkshire puds and roast potatoes best roast dinner we have had out for a long time staff were very friendly and the place was clean.we only stayed for dinner so cannot comment on the rooms but we would stay here judging on the service received.
