Elephant & Castle

I wanted to like this place and not just because we got this for one of our birthday meals. Quick summary: we found paper shreds in not 1 but TWO dishes, the shep pie was very bland with minimal fillings, and the pretzel appie was burnt. Chicken pot pie and bread pudding was good. Overall wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend. :( Here's a breakdown of ratings: - Salad: 1/5 - had paper in it (see photos) - Pie sampler: 1/5 - had paper in it, didn't trust eating the others after finding it (see photos) - Pretzel appie: 2/5 - google image search pretzel bites. That is not what we got. Instead of gold - goldenbrown we got brown - dark brown well done bites. :( - Chicken pot pie: 4/5 good flavor and saucy! Good crust. Could have used more filling for the price. - Bread pudding: 4/5 make sure you like raisins they are all over the middle of this. The bread was pillowy and good, it was a bit well done on the top, but not overly.

This is a regular supper spot for me. I love the friendly staff and how they recognize me when I come in. My server will usually ask me if I want my regular beverage and tell me what’s their current menu fav for me to try. Whatever I choose arrives hot and beautifully presented. My favourite is bangers and mash! Yum! E&C is an excellent place to bring friends for lunch, happy hour or supper. Highly recommend!

Great food, friendly staff, wide selection of everything. When I was there the place was rather packed and they were low on staff and somehow the staff managed to handle the load better than I have seen at other restaurants I have been to, and they did so while still maintaining a positive attitude and they were still very responsive. Overall, a very positive experience, I would very much recommend elephant & castle based on the experience I had. The view of the cathedral across the street is also quite unique and interesting. I would recommend not sitting near a front facing window in the evening (at least in the summer) as it can get a bit bright and warm as it nears sundown.

Disappointed, I had so excited to come out for dinner with my family. Took almost 10 mins before we received any acknowledgement, we requested to move tables to a smaller more personal space instead of their large both options. When receiving drinks, I found floating small items in my drink. I asked for a new one, upon drinking I soon seen more small pieces floating around (after waiting some time for the waitress to return) got myself plain water and no ice.. Sat there for over an hour, no idea where the food is. As guests who came in after us ; are being served their food and drinks.. we are still there unsure of what's happening.. I understand being busy and "overwhelmed". Just overall bad experience 🙃 Bacon blue cheeseburger and "burger week" meat patties, were burnt. Less to nothing blue cheese. I'll definitely think twice before coming here again. (Ordered here a few months prior, and it was amazing )

Great atmosphere to have some drinks after work with colleagues. Has some old pictures of various bands, Monty Python, and some British iconography. Offers vegetarian options and substitution to their burgers. Large menu for a healthy choice of options. Place was quite busy, food came a bit slow because of it. Staff were incredibly polite and let us know about the kitchen on low staff. Dessert was incredible.
