Friendly bar staff and a clean, though compact, environment. Two big thumbs up for stocking grab bag sized Monster Munch and the uncommon Scampi Fries. Just a TARDIS needed to get Cheese Moments and I'd be in pub snack Heaven.

Nice pub with comfortable lounge area. Lady behind the bar was working hard, on her own on a busy Friday evening .She was still welcoming and friendly greeting everyone with a smile.

As good as it ever was. Not been for a number of years. It has had a refit and is very smart and comfortable. Food and drink good, as are the staff.

This is the first time that I've visited this public house since 1988. And I have found it to be quite honest and relaxing. The draft Guinness was beautiful, very nice. In fact it was excellent. So good that I will be going back for more very soon. 😎, Cool.

This is one of the nicest pubs ever. That’s what I heard, and it’s true. Nice tea and crisps. The students came in, 1/2 way through and in a nice way it was a glorious riot, during and when they left after their party. Staff are lovely. I will visit again! If I could give 6* I would

Absolutely brilliant, great beer and staff. Traditional pub where the staff and customers talk to each other. Come in on your own and leave with friends I love to go here when I visit family. Home cooked food at lunchtime and decent music at all times, no TV except special occasions. Regular darts teams, a real traditional pub not a brewery manufactured one. If you are in Wivenhoe go here its great especially if you like Adnams ale, its well looked after and not expensive. Don't expect airs and graces or flashy furniture but on the plus side the management run a tight ship and you won't get any hassle or scumbags hassling you. Please be aware that it is run like a traditional pub and is not open all day please see the website for opening times. If you are in the Village i would recommend you go here for weekday lunch or take the family for a drink they have good parking and a decent garden.

Good selection of Ales. Very friendly staff who gave our rambling group a warm welcome. Thanks especially to the landlady who said we can eat our sandwiches in the pub garden. A bright clean traditional pub.
