Review The Diggers Rest - Woodbury Salterton

We had a lovely lunch sitting outside in the sunshine. My son and I had tasty burgers and my sister in law a chicken combo. Followed by naughty desserts of chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding. Delicious! Very friendly pub. We look forward to trying your roasts soon.

Had the BEST, crispiest batter on my battered fish, served with chunky chips and peas. Others had hunters chicken or scampi and chips. Very friendly owners. Lovely old thatched pub, very warm on arrival at noon. (Doors opened at the strike of 12.) Well worth the drive down the country lanes. Large carpark round the back . Dog friendly. Soundtrack was diverse!

Lovely food and really friendly staff. We used to come here frequently 45 years ago and it is just as I remembered. Redecorated a few times obviously.

Lovely place for a campervan stop over. Very friendly & welcoming team (we were offered electric hook up if we’d wanted it) - locals were friendly too (think my dog has made some new best friends!) food was lovely. We felt very welcome & really enjoyed our evening. Will definitely call in again when we’re next passing - great place xx

We visited the pub as we were staying at Brown's Farm Campsite. The staff were very friendly and the drinks were reasonably priced. The pub was clean and very welcoming, we would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

My wife and I like to travel around on a Sunday to try out different places for a roast dinner. This has to be one of the best we have tried in the area for a long time. Well worth the money, good selection of drinks and very welcoming staff. Will definitely be going back

Stayed here overnight in our motorhome on the way down to Cornwall. Nice owner, hooked us up with electric for £10. Good selection of beers and cider. V. nice food, (I recommend the pies) good sized portions too, starter and main course filled us up so much we couldn't manage a dessert.

First time here and absolutely loved it. They allowed us to stay in the car park for the night in our motorhome. Lovely landlord and landlady. Definitely recommend!!

Good pub food, well cooked and decent value for money. However exemplary service, drinks poured quickly and right first time. Nice local pub. I'd recommend a visit

We had a fantastic dinner here last night. Food was great. A fab selection of gins on offer. A tuck shop set up at the front of the pub as no local shop in the village. Great customer service we were well looked after during our visit. Highly recommended will be back when staying at the campsite again.

This is a great traditional local pub, warm and friendly a great resource that needs supporting. Fantastic Sunday Roast great value for money. Atmosphere would have been better with more customers, not your fault so 5 stars for potential

Down in Devon (from Stockport) for a 2 week cottage holiday and The Diggers Rest is a real hidden gem in the heart of Woodbury Salterton! 2 x spicy chicken burger 1 x chicken and mushroom pie 1 x fish and chips All really tasty (great quality), great value for money, good drinks available- what more can you ask for?! As good if not better than anywhere else in East Devon! Really friendly and warm staff that welcome you to this clean, country pub. Really good to see the locals enjoying drinks at the bar - a sign in my opinion of a very good landlord/landlady! Wishing all at The Diggers Rest the very best to keep this beautiful pub alive and kicking!

Found the place using the good pub guide 2009 whilst visiting Crealy adventure park in Devon. They have a variety of dishes on the menu. Most resoureced locally. Ordered slow cooked pork belly.... Taste still lingering in my head 2 hours later. Delicious. Others on the table ordered lobster - delicious again., lamb shank, gnocchi. All excellent. Kids loved their fish and chicken fingers too. As if that was not enough, the sticky toffee pudding was simply mmmmmmm! Ended up having 2 of them! On the downside, there was a bit of a wait for the food to arrive.....but who cares....the food was worth it!

Good well run local country pub with food just a few miles to the east of Exeter. Excellent range and choice of meals including several fish and vegetarian options Good selection of wines and beer, including local ales, wine from Sharpham vineyards and an emphasis on local produce and suppliers. The Pork comes from Kenniford Farm which is less than a mile down the lane! One hour lunch guarantee for people who need a quick break but for the rest of us a pleasant place to eat and drink with a young friendly and efficient team front of house.
