Review Ship Inn - Wool

Laila Lacey
We have arrived back home to Scotland and I had promised myself to write a review on this exceptional establishment! It was a superb visit. Amazing, welcoming and such a warm vibe. Beautiful interior and outdoors space. We had very rainy few days down there but I could see the vision of customers having a lovely time sitting and enjoying the outdoor garden. The staff were great, the service was timely and the food was delicious, plenty on the plate, good quality and fab presentation. The loos were clean, the house rose was exactly what I was after, the desserts were lovely. I could sing praises all day long. It was a perfect ending for our trip down South before flying back home. Definitely recommending the place, you won't be disappointed!

Very average British food, unremarkable at best. The ambience though is absolutely beautiful. Would recommend this for a stop over when visiting the Dorset landmarks. Do not expect amazing food.

Service and atmosphere wonderful. Two meals were perfect,Fish&Chips and the Minted Lamb burger were great. Faggots however were very tough and the creamy mash was full of hard lumps..not offered an alternative.

Walked in from a very soggy walk, 5 of us and a wet dog. Welcomed with open arms and we were sat down with drinks in minutes. Large party already in the pub so we we warned of a potential wait, but we had hot food on our table before I'd even had time to think about feeling hungry. Great food and good drinks options too. Would definitely recommend it.

Popped in for lunch. We received prompt attention and friendly service from the young team. We sat outside and the garden area was pleasant with tidy tables but the standout was the food: we both had the steak burgers with extras and they were absolutely gorgeous, moist and so tasty with crispy, fluffy chips. The only disappointment was that two of the pumps were closed so a limited choice of ales. Otherwise, I am very happy to recommend the Ship to all.

Meal and service were both ok. Had run out of a fair few dishes, cod and chips, lasagna and one other item on the specials board. Food was tasty and satisfying.

Stopped here for lunch after the Tank Museum :) Lovely range of food and friendly staff :) Highly recommend the "The Ship Inn Chargrilled Chicken and Chorizo", it was delicious :) Also the the sticky toffee pudding with the Captain Morgan Toffee sauce, delicious :) Our compliments to the cook of the ship, you won't see no mutiny here :D

Stopped in while on a quick trip south to see the Tank Museum. Got into Wool later than I expected but had a great dinner at the Ship Inn. Portions were very generous - I had the Chorizo Ships Inn Chicken & mash. Was nice to have 'real' food after a couple days of travel!

It was my first visit to the Ship Inn today , we was brought here by a family member. We was a party of 6 people . They have a great selection of food catering for everyone. There’s plenty of tables inside the building . Also there’s a large garden area with lots of tables I would recommend that you ring and book for meals . It’s a dog friendly pub, it’s just in the bar area I believe. The food was beautiful everything was cooked just perfect. all the starters came at the same time as did the main course to. The staff were very friendly and polite . We shall definitely be back for another meal before travelling home .

Visited the Ship Inn on Friday 3rd August after visiting Monkey World . Had starters & mains only ( 2 of us ) which we’re fine , nice and hot . Staff were at friendly , food was hot . Food was keenly price , but thought the drinks ( soft drinks ) were a tad expensive . Left and went to Weymouth for a early evening visit , returned to the Ship Inn for a couple or so stronger drinks and a tea for the wife as well as a cocktail from the cocktail menu . Generally I liked the place , would recommend it . Food fine , drinks just a little overpriced . Staff no issues with at all .

Nice pub, friendly staff, great garden for the kids, but the food is not good. Had an awful meal, but they were very apologetic and refunded the cost of the bad meals. I think they need a new chef!
