We LOVE it here! Dave and Debs are always warm and welcoming... it's always at the top of list when we want a great meal and somewhere family friendly. Having 2 little ones it's difficult to find a pub that can be so accommodating, our experience of The Five Bells has always been FANTASTIC!!! Oh and Ben the chef makes the most amazing salted caramel cheesecake, please add it to your menu x

Called in for a spot of light lunch after failing to find a menu that took our fancy in southwold. Service was excellent food was superb. Impressed with the BLT baguette was warmed and the condements were local.

20/3/24 We came for breakfast, it was very good. Well cooked, hot and nicely presented. What made our experience even better was the male member of waiting staff, he was very helpful, friendly, attentive and polite. He deserves an extra *. Very good value and service. We were so impressed, that we came for dinner the next day, we weren't disappointed. Plenty of parking, clean toilets and a very clean, spacious pub/restaurant. Recommended

Son took us there for Sunday lunch. Him and my wife were very happy with their meals. Unfortunately, the roast beef that I had was quite tough, so didn't enjoy it. Will try again another day.

Heading back from Southwold with a hungry 2 year old saw us swing in after spotting it roadside, and what an absolute cracking find it was. Really accommodating to us, service fantastic, food came out quick and was incredible. I would recommend the belly pork to anyone lucky enough to step foot in the place. The fish and chips were very much enjoyed and the children's scampi got the thumbs up, which is an honour to be bestowed from little legs.

First visit and was warmly welcomed. Friendly service, tasty, hot food. We had the cod mornay and spinach and coconut curry, both of which were perfect. Toilets were clean and smelt fresh. Lovely atmosphere. However I'm not a fan of dog friendly restaurants but understand this is in almost all eateries now. Cannot comment on rooms as only visited bar and restaurant but if at the same standard I guess would be very good..

Nice pub setting just down the road from the lovely cove hithe beach. We had a group of tables booked for 12:30 and although it was as good as empty on arrival (just opened) the whole place was full 20mins later so definitely book for Sundays at least. Friendly team, nice food and its a good size nice clean pub.

We stayed here last weekend for 2 nights with our dog. Firstly, the 3 rooms are separate from the pub, which is great as no noise. The rooms are spacious, comfortable bedding, tea, coffee and bottled water provided and a good power shower. The pub is a real traditional old pub, no TV or fruit machines. The locals were very friendly. We ate both nights and the food was excellent fleshly cooked and piping hot. The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic, choice of cereals, preserves, fruit juice, tea, coffee, vegetarian, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and full english, plus sausage for the dog. Lastly we would like to thank the staff. Mark and is team really looked after us, from the moment we arrived. Adnams have a real gem in Mark. He does not stop for a second. He is meticulous in how the pub is run. He makes sure that everyone who walks through the door is felt welcomed straight away. Thank you Mark. Keith & Kim (Clacton-on-sea)
