Review Rose & Crown Restaurant - Wrotham

Mark Gentry
Visited The Rose & Crown yesterday for a Baby Shower party in the on site Old Barn. Nice Shepherd & Neame pub. Very well kept & clean. The Guiness was superb & the staff very helpful & friendly. The barn is a great venue for a party of up to 60 people. The real fire was great for atmosphere & taking the chill of a typical spring day. Will use again.

Nice village pub. Good spread of beer including a very enjoyable session pale ale as in the photo...it comes in a 500ml glass though which is a little under a pint. Fine with me.

Had an evening walk around wrotham with the Tonbridge and Malling Ramblers and stopped here afterwards and had a great fish and chips meal. The beer was great and the hosts very friendly. Will go again.

Have not been to the rose and crown in over 2 years because of covid. We visited sunday. Was so nice to see Karen and john. Such a friendly village atmosphere. Lovely warm log fire. Me and my husband had roast lamb. The lamb melted in your mouth one of the best roast dinners we have had in a long time. We was very lucky to be fitted in as it was very busy so I would advise to book. Looking forward to our next visit.

The pub has recently been taken over and the new Management team are wonderful. The service is friendly and welcoming and the food is lovely (especially the Sunday Roast) They also have a lot of great local beers and produce. The Farmers Market on the first Friday of every month is also well worth a visit.

Great food especially the fish n chips and Sunday roast. A warm and very friendly welcome always by the owners. Nothing is too much trouble. Great quiz night every Thursday.

Friendly landlord. Very welcoming. Pleasant atmosphere and the cleanest toilets we've seen in a pub for a long time. If we lived locally we would definitely be regulars.

The Rose and Crown is located in a quiet high street in Wrotham. We had a lunch booking for Father's Day. It started well we arrived and parked easily in the on site car park. The pub has a nice rear patio, on entering the pub we we greeted by a friendly guy (I think he was the landlord) we had a slight issue which is that they are not current accepting Open Table Bookings so if you booked with open table call to confirm the booking yourself. However they had a table spare and offered us this table. We sat and within about 2 minutes we had menus and drinks. They have a small Sunday menu but still have something to suit everyone. The specials were all roasts. We all had a roast I had the Roast Striploin of beef it was delicious, the gravy was especially tasty (often I find the gravy feels like an afterthought, not today) The veg was well cooked and the Yorkshire pudding was perfect. The kids meals were great, fresh mash , homemade cod goujons and good quality sausages. The portions were a good healthy size, you would not have wanted any more food, especially not if you want a dessert. Sadly the only downside for me was they had run out of crumble. The coffee was great and freshly made by the landlady, my wife had the chocolate brownie which she said was delicious. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive, it was a great day. I would happy return and would recommend the Rose and Crown to anyone

A fantastic little find! Our first visit and we could not have been made to feel more welcome. The food was fantastic and the drinks selection was superb. Can't wait to go back.

Great home cooked food at very reasonable prices. We especially enjoy the Sunday lunches which feature meat from Chart Farm. The new managers have done great job in getting the pub back on its feet.

Visited after the Wrotham lights festival. Slightly confused service as we booked but insufficient staff to serve at tables do you seem to order at the bar where staff are very busy. Overcharged by £1 for the food, but no great issue. The Haddock in beer batter was delicious well cooked fresh fish and quite good chips too. I had a chocolate fondant dessert which was nice. A nice meal nothing exceptional but good. Ps toilets clean but freezing

The best Sunday roast I have ever had. I reviewed it elsewhere saying that I hadn't had the bill yet, but that whatever they charged I would gladly pay. Turns out it was reasonably priced as well. Lovely people and a beautiful building.

The Rose & Crown is a good pub. It's got lovely staff and good food! Plumb crumble was soooo good! Only problem was that there were no carrots or peas with my roast? Instead we had beetroot and parsnips Aside from that it's great!
