This place was brilliant. I loved it, massive room, comfy bed, excellent tea and coffee making facilities, great location and the staff guy I met was funny. Zero faults

I have read some of the reviews and
Yes it is a budget hotel, rooms / bathrooms are clean and well stocked with coffee/ toiletries. I have stayed in various rooms and you can shut curtains.
The staff are very friendly and go out of way to help you. It's a pub don't try and compare it to a 5 star hotel..
It's warm friendly and inviting

A no frills hotel, but a warm welcome and clean room and bathroom. Lots of tea and coffee and a real treat of biscuits in the room! The toiletries were good quality. In a good location. You check in via the pub building and that has some amazing features.

We really liked the building and the welcome. Rugby in one room, football in the other. Only Doombar for the bitter drinkers but the atmosphere is friendly and prices are fair.

Our room was comfortable and clean but as we were on the top floor, a bit cramped.
The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful, albeit the pub side of things could do with a good clean and a refresh.

Room and service was great with reference to price point, friendly staff, good food and beer selection. Never had a four poster bed for under 300£ let alone 50£, I think some people’s expectations are unreasonable- would definitely stay again.

A great friendly family run traditional pub, with the recent addition of a pool table. A large smoking area where you don't feel like a second rate citizen. Very clean Loo's which is a must for the Lady's. Full sports coverage and a nice reasonably priced menu, car park at rear, what else could you desire?

From entering the bar we were made to feel welcome, all the staff were very friendly. We didn't eat or stay overnight but used the outside smoking area which was very comfy & covered. Nice atmosphere & will visit again.

Didn't heat here but certainly drank!!!
Shannon the bar tender was awesome and the beer and alcohol were very reasonably priced.
This is located across from the Keep (see my review of that also). We didn't eta here but the food looked good and the place was always busy.
Stop in and say hi to Shannon...

I've spent many evenings in the pub while on business travel. The staff is quite friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is great, there are good drinks, sport on TV and a great patio area out back. I would highly recommend for dinner and a few drinks.

I went for a meal with friends for my birthday as I'd always wanted to try the food there. The food was good value for money, very tasty and beautifully presented. The service was quick and efficient. They were all lovely, polite and attentive. The home made black forest gateaux was lush and the 2 candles and the staff singing me happy birthday really made my night. The Globe is well situated in town and in easy reach of parking, and also has limited parking for its overnight guests. I have not stayed here so cannot comment on the accommodation. But the bar and restaurant areas are clean and welcoming and I would recommend this as a good venue for a night out drinking and good food. Well done The Globe :-)

4 of us visited before a show at the Octagon Theatre. We expected an ordinary pub meal, but the presentation and taste was truly excellent. We sat near the kitchen and could watch the chef preparing our meals. 3 of the 4 meals we ordered were from the specials menu and the menu posted on their website seems to be an old version. Also, the pub has a 'dining area' and a 'pub area'. We sat in the dining area, which was very quiet and had no TVs. However the pub area was served the same food.
