Amazing food! Excellent service. Picture is pork Wellington, steak pie, chicken stuff with goat cheese, and prosciutto wrapped cod. Definitely deserves a 4.8+ rating it has.

Steak was amazing and the price for the special offer made it even better.. service was superb and if anything over attentive If that’s possible. landlord spotted my pint of ale wasn’t right and swapped it out then It was great, superb service. it’s a little retro in decor but that adds to the charm

Always nice to come here - friendly staff and atmosphere and good food. Six of us ate here recently and generally all good as usual. One constructive comment - the fish pie needs work. It was like fish soup with a potato lid - not creamy, cheesy and mashy as most people seem to like it.

We had our anniversary meal here tonight. The food was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked steaks. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Generally good, the seafood plater was a 5. My Son and I had the rib eye, medium rare, steak a solid 4, Veg a little overlooked, cheese cake excellent, overall would recommend

Quality food and so easy to get to on the train. Sticky toffee pud with a toffee basket+ ice-cream, very tasty. Alec and friends will definitely revisit.

Fantastic food and absolutely wonderful service. Nothing was too much and service was done with a smile! Great prices too and wonderful desserts. Thank you for a lovely experience, will certainly be back!

The Victoria Cattal was extremely busy and they didn't think there would be room for us to have lunch. They managed to squeeze us in. The service was great and the food extremely tasty. I would highly recommend Sunday lunch. I hope to return when we're travelling near York again

An exceptional place with an interesting menu of well cooked food. A visit is a must if you get the chance, but book first as it gets busy.

Have to say our meal, the staff and the whole ambiance of this place was exceptional. Highly recommended and we will be definitely be coming back in the near future.
