Went to Bruks for a late lunch whilst visiting our daughter who is at York University. The friendly staff reorganised the table and chairs to accomodate our pram, then brought us a high chair and some toys from the restaurants toybox. We ordered drinks that arrived promptly then ordered a full english breakfast with extra black pudding, pizza panini and a BLT baguette with extra coleslaw. The owner then brought out cucumber sticks for our 9mth old and kindly offered to refill our teapot with water. We had spotted the cakes in the window display as we had arrived so then ordered red velvet cake, a chocolate brownie and salted caramel chocolate shortcake which were all delicious as we sampled each others!!! The tearoom was nicely decorated, staff are all very friendly, the food was delicious...well worth a visit.
Favourite coffee / tea shop in York. Friendly and welcoming staff, nothing too much trouble.
The food is well presented and a good selection. Home made cakes to finish, so delicious.
Called in while visiting the Xmas market so the cafe was very busy, yet the staff were very welcoming and efficient. Didn’t wait long for our drinks or food, the full English breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. Cooked to perfection with quality ingredients, look forward to dining here again.
Found this place hidden away but we were very lucky to get a table. Just had hot drinks (coffee and hot chocolate ) which were fantastic, but the home baked cakes and food served to other diners looked fabulous. Very busy but staff friendly and approachable. Service was first class. We'll be back.
My daughter and I popped in here today while on a day trip to York. She ordered a hot chocolate, which turned out to be much larger than expected, and I had a very nice pot of tea. The cafe itself is lovely, nice decor and a relaxed atmosphere, obviously popular with locals, which is always a good sign! I'd definitely recommend this place.
The warmest welcome, the friendliest atmosphere, the best coffee and the tastiest cake (and mince pie)! Thank you for being such a lovely little coffee shop.

Cannot recommend highly enough. Great milkshake, awesome food and my daughter loves playing with the toys.
I had a fit in there at 33 weeks pregnant with my 19month old daughter with me and they could not have been more helpful and supportive.

Had a wonderful experience here today when visiting with my 2 year old. Really helpful staff, plenty to keep my little one occupied, lovely food and to top it all of, candles on my daughter's cake as I'd mentioned it was her birthday! Thank you! Xx

My friend joining me had no clue what Bubble n Squeak was, and the staff offered and proceeded to cook a small bowl up for him to try, free of charge.

This hidden gem was just perfect for lunch. Not fancy, flashy or overpriced, just decent, fresh, honest fayre. Gluten free, veggie, vegan options aplenty. Only down side, don't be seduced by the cakes!

This was a chance find when it started to rain. It is great! The staff were friendly, my little boy was given an age appropriate toy to play with as soon as we sat down. I saw older children offered "connect for" and drawings to do. The food was delicious. They said that as they were really busy the food would be delayed, but actually it came out really quickly.
Superb English breakfast and hot chocolate, and scones 😍 very friendly atmosphere! Staff is amazing, everyone was so polite and friendly! Will come back and bring my friends!

Lovely independent cafe in York I found on my way to the station. It was a cold day with a smattering of snow, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They had regulars and greeted them all by name , I thought it was lovely 😍.
My cappuccino was lovely and my veggie breakfast bap was fresh and delicious. The array of cakes and savouries looked mouthwatering.
