Popped in on a lovely sunny lunchtime - got the courtyard to ourselves as we were early and I have to say we were looked after fantastically by the staff who are a credit to the restaurant.
The young chap suggested the meat platter and talked us into adding the cheese then talked us through what was nice. Top work young man.
Tried a fab bottled beer again recommended then had to give one of the wine flights a try - Three French dry whites all very good and reasonable price too.
We are defo coming back - can't recommend the place enough.
Don't know if you've discovered this place yet - it's Zoe and Tim's new venture and goes in a new direction away from their Ambiente formula. They got the chefs to come up with their favourite breakfasts and meals and based the menu around that. The perfect place for brunch or an affordable dinner out, nice wines / drinks and really friendly, good service. Really nicely styled and there's a pretty courtyard to eat outside. Give it a go - it's in the old bicis y mas place down Walmgate.
The staff was absolutely wonderful. They have great vegetarian options and we enjoyed the veggie chicken and the chorizo. The highlight was the burnt basque cheesecake which was absolutely delicious!
One order took a little bit longer and we were pleasantly surprised when they brought us two glasses of sherry and crossed the order and the service charge from the bill.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for tapas, a nice atmosphere and amazing service.
Found Tabanco at the start of this year when visiting York and WOW what an experience. The tapas is absolutely fantastic ... I have a Spanish daughter and when in Spain tapas is our go to food, Tabanco tapas is truly authentic. When thinking about visiting York again this June the deciding factor was Tabanco, making sure we could get a table before traveling from France. This second visit was even better than our first thanks to Jim and his enthusiasm, passion and knowledge for the extensive sherry collection that is available. When you get to your table ask for Jim and let him educate and delight you with the sherry on offer. The staff at Tabanco are warm, friendly and ready to advice with the tapas and drinks menu. Thank you to the Tabanco team you are FAB! Jim ... get ready to line the sherry up for us again soon ... we'll be back.
Went with my parents and partner on a Sunday, we had an absolutely fantastic evening. It was very cozy, the food was delicious, the servers were friendly, especially the one with a beard (who's name I can't quite remember unfortunately) who was extremely knowledgeable about the food and the sherry, which was also delicious! Will definitely be going again, and recommending to others.
Love this place. The food is so lovely and the staff and great too. I have been several times, and always come away loving it. I have also been to the 5 course tasting menu event, which was absolutely superb. The food is delicious and the sherry/drinks pairings with each course are very enjoyable. I would deffo recommend this place over and over again!
We had an outstanding meal and experience. The staff were delightful, and their attitude and attention elevated a great meal into a superb one. The dishes were delicious, and a cut above a regular Tapas restaurant. The wine and sherry menu is extensive and interesting. If only we lived in York we'd be there every week!
Amazing place. Great food, drinks atmosphere and music! Loved every element of the place and the guys who served us were awesome (James and a Spanish guy (sorry didn’t catch his name), bubbly, knowledgable and great fun to chat to!
Had a fantastic lunch on a Monday. Service in particular was excellent. Our host had lots of sherry and wine knowledge. Seven tapas between two was ample and extremely tasty.
Fabulous food. We were very pleased and surprised to find the restaurant was dog friendly. The waitress was lovely and brought a complimentary drink as it was the wife's birthday. Overall a brilliant meal.
A great dinner venue if you fancy something different. The tapas had an excellent choice of dishes including some great sea food. The staff complement on the evening were all very good and while some people might view them as a little young, all performed their jobs excellently and could engage well with the customers.
Friendly helpful staff who know the menu. Food is excellent. Highly recommend the Paella Ibérica.
