Searched TripAdvisor for steak restaurants in York, it was between here & The Whippet. We chose Kennedy’s as Thursday night was 2 steaks for £30 including a bottle of wine. When we walked in it wasn’t what we thought (posh steak restaurant), but so so glad we chose here. The steak & chips were beautiful! And the peppercorn sauce so creamy. One of the best, if not the best steak meals I’ve had. The people working here are super friendly & we had a lovely time. Would definitely recommend
Lovely meal yesterday in York with family. Fish and chips was to die for....tender white fish and batter which melted in the mouth!
Very friendly staff and relaxing and ambient atmosphere. We'll be back very soon.
We ducked in for lunch while shopping. Very friendly staff. Big serves of tasty food. Nice place to just chill and enjoy a cider. Recommended
We stopped here for an early lunch- we were immediately greeted warmly and seated. Staff were really quick and so friendly. Food was great; menu has something for everyone. We were there on a Monday so most of the menu was half price! Lovely atmosphere and music, staff great, food great- you won’t regret it.
Went there on Wednesday which is half-price burgers day. The burgers and hand-cut chips were excellent, the staff were friendly and the service was good.
We were greeted promptly, sat down and served by very helpful staff (who arranged the available outdoor table, allowed us to use tastecard even though we hadn’t booked, and were very accommodating with alternative ideas when the wine we ordered had run out).
Plates are full. Husband got a steak and was cooked exactly how he asked. Mine was a pulled pork burger and you can see in photo how big (even though I had ate some). Busy, popular and great atmosphere.
Hidden gem on our trip to York. We went on a Sunday eve for drinks when there was live music on which we loved. Was quiet initially but got busier. Was a really nice atmosphere. Would defo go back on our next trip to York.
I rarely do reviews but feel the need to as myself and partner visited on Sunday and had the nicest Sunday dinner we have ever had. I don't think our photos do it justice. Everything was cooked perfectly, finished with a chocolate dessert which was equally as nice. We are regulars to york and visit a lot. We like to try different places and to this date we have never had a bad meal anywhere but We will be returning to kennedys to hopefully Try the burgers 🍔
Had a fabulous meal of the Mushroom with a View burger. Delicious fries too. We were there on the Wednesday 2 for 1. Awesome value for home made burger patties with a delicious smoke flavour. Served quickly with no fuss. Thoroughly recommend.
Was at a party here this weekend and we had a wonderful time. The music and atmosphere was brilliant. Also, I lost my purse, they found it and kept it safe for me. Amazing service!! Can't wait to return!
The food was lovely. The girl who served us was lovely too. BUT OMG OVER £100 ?! a £10 service charge which you won’t be told about till after btw! But the atmosphere is good. !!
We arranged a special leaving do at the little gem of a place. The staff were absolutely brilliant to work with and so accommodating and helpful on the night too. We had a room and area just for us which looked amazing with candles on the night and we were able to take in any decorations we liked which the staff helped with. Mothers band were playing v who were fantastic! We danced the night away- a brilliant evening! Thank you so much we will return in the future.

What a fantastic place this is. My partner and I visited for a long weekend and found this place online, we was looking for something super central to York and all the tourist spot and you CAN NOT get any better than this place. Tucked right in the heart of the lanes of York it’s perfect for getting out and about to see the wonderful history that York has to offer.
We stayed in a beautiful newly refurbished apartment that was lovely and clean, big comfy double bed and a hot powerful shower I could of stayed in all day long.
Then there’s the restaurant. We are here everyday at some point weather it was breakfast lunch or dinner we had the opportunity to try everything and it didn’t disappoint. If I had to choose one thing off the menu to try it’s the Sunday roast leg of lamb. OMG INCREDIBLE!!
The staff were fantastic always on hand to help including the owner of the business Karen who couldn’t accommodate us more if she tried. Such a lovely family run business. My partner and I have now found our absolute go to for any future visits back to York.
Came for Lunch, got the large plate feta cheese salad and lamb tacos. The salad was really good! Enough cheese for veggies, lots of tomatos! Lamb tacos were meh. Wouldn't order those again.
We were on the hunt for some where to eat and cane across this place.
We went on a Wednesday where they offer 2 for 1 on selected burgers, we got the Kenney burger and I forgot the other one it was chicken and beef, we also got loaded nachos plus a beer and a cider.
We paid about £35 in total which we thought was reasonable for everything we got!
We were both stuffed and could not finish it all, the portions here are huge!
The staff were excellent and very friendly, was a great meal out and highly recommended. If you are in York and fancy a burger give this place a shot!
