First and foremost… the food was amazing, fantastic haddock quality and light batter. Positions were generous and chips were lovely.

Why can't all fish & chips be cooked in beef dripping? Can really taste the difference. I'd been looking forward to this since arriving in Yorkshire! 😋 yum yum! Also recommend locally made steak pies!
After looking at the menu outside myself and my son decided to give it ago. My son ordered the chicken burger, chips and slaw. I ordered the mini fish and chips. This arrived within the space of 15 mins.

Really enjoyed our food here. The fish taco is pretty good and the portion size for the fish and chips is generous so unless you have a big appetite, a regular will fill you up just fine.

Was craving for fish and chips in york and drakes fish n chips was one of the suggested place. Ordered their regular haddock fish and chips + mushy peas The portion is big ! Couldnt finish all my chips. The fish was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered their tacos and was surprised by their portion
First visit here since I was a kid. This was the place where I leaned to love good fish and chips 30 years ago. Didn't disappoint on the return. Arrived just before closing time and they took the effort to do a haddock and chips for me. Amazing. Best I've had in the UK.
So nice we had it twice! We visited York for the weekend and tried Drakes one evening. It was very delicious, didn't taste greesy and was reasonably priced. We enjoyed it so much that we couldn't end our trip without having it one last time. If you want good fish and chips, I'd definitely recommend
