The Olive Tree - York - Photo album

Really good Mediterranean food, just on the edge of York city centre, and very accessible, good friendly service. We had 2 starters between and shared a main which was a good move as it was large portions, so good value, and chilled vibe, and not too expensive either which is good for York
Very busy but squeezed us in at short notice. Had to wait a while but food cooked to order - lots of choice and delicious pizzas. Great view of Clifford's Tower.
Lovely ambiance, prompt and very friendly service. The food was simply delicious
Slow service, but they were busy. Staff friendly, just a bit run off their feet. Food is good. Desserts are NOT homemade. Wine about £20 a bottle. Mains around £12-17 each. Desserts (£5-7). Gorgeous view of the York Castle which is directly opposite. Get a window table.
We were a midday booking on a Tuesday. The front of house service was very friendly and happy to supply a high chair for a 18 month old child. The restaurant was clean and warm, food and drink was a reasonably priced and generously portioned. Ideal for large groups and family gatherings.
Food was delicious but the starter was massive and left little room for our main course. Will definitely share one on a return visit
I spent Christmas day there with my partner. The price of the three courses was good and the food really nice and well presented. Staff was helpful and cheerful. The place is located next to Clifford's Tower so the view was outstanding. The decoration of the restaurant was not what I expected judgin
Stopped here for lunch whilst in York. They have a wide range of options and the Chicken, Lamb and Beef is halal. Great service and super friendly staff!
Quick and friendly service, we booked for 5:30pm but 4 parties walked straight in without bookings. The portion sizes are really good. The chicken and chorizo paella was gorgeous and they offered to take the rest away when we could only finish half of it. We only had one drink but £45 including tip
Excellent food for a special occasion lunch, a varied menu with a Mediterranean focus. The service was friendly and efficient, food nicely presented. I had halibut which was perfectly cooked and presented in an unfussy way with roasted vegetables which were done just right - not greasy! I will retur
Nice place with a good selection of meals. My partner and I both chose from the pasta selection (tagliatelli with king prawns and lobster ravioli), both were delicious! The desserts offered a more limited choice. We chose the raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake, which was nice but not quite at
This is our go to restaurant if we are eating in York. We have eaten here over the last several years and never had anything other than excellent food. I was a lone diner today but my seafood risotto was such a generous portion I would have shared it with my husband if he had been there; it was pac
Really good food, fantastic friendly service, really good value. Overall highly recommend and we will be back
We arrived at 20:00, we had booked a table in advance but when we arrived we were sat down without asking a confirmation on the booking. I could tell the waitresses were busy. Me and my partner ordered some wine which was lovely and had a scan through the menu. Plenty of good food. We decided agains
We have just had a Fantastic meal here at The Olive Tree. Opposite Cliffords Tower. I can very much recommend it. The Sea Bass was very well cooked. The Garlic Creamy Mushrooms were also out of this world. I had the Lasagne, again was the best I have had for a long time. I would give them 5 STARS
Just like Jimmy White, this is my favourite Italian in York. We like it so much we had Xmas lunch there this year. The lasagne is properly lush, the boy always has marghuerita pizza and I always finish it, so good. Can be quiet, why I do not know.
Visited here a few times while visiting York..lovely authentic Italian menu traditional flavours .."best pizza ever"comments from one of our group ..fair pricing ..friendly service ..opposite Clifford's Tower with carpark 5 mins walk
I kept meaning to visit this place whilst living in York last year and I so wish I had. We went for a pre-theatre meal and the service was quick and friendly. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed our food, and will be back to try the other items on the menu which sounded lovely.
