This has to be one of the finest curries I have had the pleasure of eating.

What a place.We have walked passed this restaurant for years and never went in,dont know why not,but we wont walk past it again.Staff friendly,helpful and funny.One waiter in particular(think his name was Bosco)really made us feel welcome.The food was excellent.Will definitely be back
I'm not sure where the negative reviews come from because every time we have visited, the food has been second to none. The service is first class and overall, it's great value for money. I'm not aware of anywhere in York that beats Akbar's.
Very nice food. Packed out on a Saturday night. I did the chefs challenge 1, thinking I could eat it all being a big eater. I was wrong. A very nice Baltimore with LOADS of meat, nice pilau rice and a big naan but I couldn't handle it all. Overall very impressed, I will visit again when I come back

The naan doesn't go hard and chewy even after it cools! Truly soft and delicious naan served with excellently cooked sides. Good service, popular place especially on weekends, well managed. Definitely one to try in York.
Amazing, as always. I missed those lamb chops so much. Better than I remember. Everything was exceptional.
Prices are a bit expensive compared but food was quite good. Had a lamb shank and naan with a drink and it came to around £15. Gets quite busy during week

For a typical Pakistani the food is a Englished version of Desi food. Popular and halal. Food is reasonable. I tried biryani & tikka and they were not like the hot coal grilled type or the students biryani. Good overall especially the ambience & staff.
Just love this place, the food is fantastic and the lamb chops are something special.
