Amazing bar, great beer, great bars snacks. The viking theme is perfect for York. The decor is phenomenal, some serious work has gone into this place. You can even drink mead from a drinking horn. I'll definitely be back.

An absolutely brilliant pub, one of the best I've ever been too.
The Viking theme is done topnotch, very atmospheric and not overdone, like a lot of themed pubs.

Beautiful Viking themed bar/Inn situated just off the shambles. Takes you back in time with the furnishings and atmosphere. Serves an amazing ray of ales and beers, wines and ciders and also Mead, which is a must try but be careful its really strong! Also serves great platters and tapas, make you feel like a viking! The music is 80s rock which also adds to the atmosphere, nothing to heavy. Will definitely be coming back, once in York again!!!
Fantastic experience, the staff are lovely. Great drinks and an awesome aesthetic.
Overall i fully recommend this Bar to anyone, not only does it have a real viking feel, they serve viking style drinks and food!
Great place. Enjoyed the food and a good selection of drinks. The music was great too, a good selection of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Fantastic atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning on my next visit!
Great atmosphere with cool viking vibes. We arrived just before lunchtime, so it was very quiet, and the service was top tier with wonderfully delicious food (we really enjoyed the tapas options). Can imagine it would be very lively later in the day but makes for a great lunchtime visit just for the atmosphere alone!
Wanted to go here for a long time and planned it for my partners birthday surprise 😜..and we're not disappointed it was mid afternoon on a Monday as wanted to make sure we got a seat 😄..loved everything about it ...but in hindsight my only thing would be the glass glasses as everything felt so authentic..maybe tankard ? I don't know but loved it staff very helpful offering to take our pic etc...I even sneaked a peak at Our Father's Hall on the top floor..where it looked like staff having a meeting but they were more than happy to let me take a pic ..will definitely drop by next time we are in York...

We had the Hall at the top and ordered a number of the dishes.
The food was good! My only complaint with that was that we didn't order enough.
The staff were all very good and friendly, even if I couldn't convince them to come out with us after.
There's a good selection of ales, lagers, ciders and meads, they could have done with having more rum though.
All in all a great place.
Visited York a couple of weeks ago and tried this place for lunch. Really cool building and decor. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The chips were delicious, I wish they had a larger size option as I fought over them with the fiancé! He picked the Yorkshire sausages and said he enjoyed them, my halloumi fries were lovely. They sell cool little accessories too (we bought patches)
A great Rock bar nestled in the middle of York, good music, awesome, friendly staff. Own beers on tap I had the Valhalla IPA,
The food looked amazing and was presented on huge chopping boards with handles to carry them.
Amazing bar, our favourite night in York, great food and drink. I even bought a bottle of the mead to take home, i can't wait to buy more online. Definitely a must visit whilst in York.
