Ye Olde Starre Inne - York - Photo album

This was a lovely pub with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. Also it's extremely DOG friendly! I highly recommend the classic steak and ale pie along with a proper lager. Also the mac and cheese was UNBELIEVABLE. Pro-tip: Try to visit York during the week and not the weekend in the autumn. The
Big pub in a nice location. Not too pricey and good selection of real ales. Fairly modern feel to it, especially for it is, without feeling out of place. Plenty of seats but some up stairs... Dog friendly as well
Nice place but the veggies with the roast dinner were undercooked and a bit lacklustre and disappointing. Menu description sounded better than the meal tasted. Nice friendly staff and interesting building though, would go for a drink only next time.
Located in the heart of York, this is one of the oldest pubs in the city. Cozy place, super friendly staff, delicious food and great draught beers served. If you want to stop to restore yourself after a long walk through the city, this is the best place. It deserves 5 stars!
Instead of just a bit of flaky pastry sitting atop a portion of steak stew, the steak & ale pie ... was actually a pie! (You'd be amazed at how often that isn't the case) And yes, it was rather yummy. However, the brazed cabbage that accompanied it was as raw as the day it was pulled out of the grou
Has that old pub feel but smells of stale alcohol. Not all historic pubs smell like this, I recommend they do something about it. The food is good, not great. Not sure if I’d be in a rush to go back. I’m still giving 4 stars as the location is right in the center and has huge potential. My recomm
Really nice pub, friendly staff, clean and tidy with a fantastic choice of beers. Really worth a visit.
The atmosphere is very friendly and cozy, staff super nice. There's a lot of different sitting areas which are comfortable and spacious. Food was awesome! We ordered the vintage cheddar and bacon burger, french fries with their home seasoning were delicious!
Lovely pub. Walked past it so many times. It's hidden away. Nice touch.. Lovely food and staff are very attentive
Despite being blackmailed by CAMRA this is a cracking pub such a great range of beers and ales terrific ciders I personally witnessed the food being served & can only wish I’d not been for food earlier The staff were very friendly & I was impressed with the customer service when a visitor from 🇺🇸 as
Great food! Great staff! I had the pork loin. Super easy to order. Liked how we can order at the bar and they will bring our food to our table.
Me and my friend had a phenomenal time at this pub, relishing in how ancient it is! The walls, chandeliers and different frames contribute to this, similarly to how the bar is presented gloriously. I enjoyed a large pint relaxing at a classic table, also the toilets were very clean when I used them!
Great old fashioned pub situated in the middle of York serving good food by friendly staff the atmosphere was bustling but friendly we thoroughly enjoyed the drinks and food selection & the service was excellent.
Only a couple of beers so no food review. Beer selection was good, although at the higher priced level even for York. Good bar service and a nice Older World atmosphere.
Great pub, hidden down a passage way,, friendly staff, great choice of beers and fantastic food,, warm interior with plenty of seating areas, three beer gardens, yes 3 !! If & when the weather picks up,, tvs in & out,, what's not to like,,, Thanks to all the staff for a great visit,,,
Wonderful pub with basically three small and separate beer gardens and lovely rooms inside. The whole building is a bit of a maze but that just adds to its wonderful atmosphere. The bar staff were incredibly nice and always had an eye on people not jumping the queue. It seemed to me like they didn’t
Really lovely old old old pub, staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a couple of reasonably priced drinks and played backgammon in one of the little rooms, other games were available for people to play. You get a proper sense of history here and it's a nice place to spend a couple of hours.
three beer gardens. great atmosphere, good prices. several types of traditional pies. you can order through the app. drinks come very quickly and the food comes also in several minutes. big portions, tasty. we even got a baby seat and it was fine with 1.5 yo baby.
