Excellent stay here , period charm of staying in an original Victorian pub. Rooms are basic and clean, breakfast excellent as is the service, good selection of beers at reasonable prices, it may not suit those who are used to staying in high end hotels , but this is a different experience altogether
Great place to stay when visiting York. Lovely rooms, great breakfasts and the staff were very welcoming. A lovely walk down the riverside to get in to town which only took about 10 minutes with a few pubs on the way. Couldn't have asked for a better location or place to stay. Would definitely re
Hidden gem. We booked to stay, last minute, and didn't really check all the details before hand. Fortunately we were more than satisfied. The accommodation was perfect for my partner and I and my parents. The staff were all lovely and it's located a ten/fifteen minute walk from central York.
Excellent value for money, stayed 2 nights. Basic, functional rooms with lots of character, and very high ceilings. Easy walk along the River into the City Centre. Sainsbury's Local very close for snacks and supplies.
Little gem of a pub in York. Was visiting with family and we stayed above the pub. Nice bedrooms and convenient location. We had drinks and played card games in the front bar. Nice staff and decent drink selection. Recommend stopping in for quick pint.
Handy spot for central town with good parking. Staff welcoming and attentive. Quite an historic building which the b and b could emphasise more!
Party of four just had 4 different meals, and all of them were fantastic. Large portions, perfectly cooked and great service. I would definitely recommend.

Stayed in their double ensuite room above the pub, was lovely and had no noise problems. The room was warm with high ceilings, clean all around, and a nice location near the city centre (which made us feel we got more than we expected for the price!) Thank you Dan!
Good place to stay a night or two. Clean bright room with very hot radiators. The shower was the only minus point as you could only have very hot or cold water.

Don't be put off by the appearance/decor. Needs a refurbishment. The food and chef are amazing. We almost walked out initially but a couple recommended staying as the food was top notch and they wasn't wrong. Steaks were perfection, risotto delicious and the fish and chips tasty. 5 stars for the ch
