Didn't even know this place was here until today. What a wonderful tour by Geoff and Sue. Highlight of my day in York. I recommend anyone to visit. Lovely house and gardens

Visited The Treasurers house the 1st May. The tour around was amazing with lots to see. Sandra, our guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable. The lady in the kitchen at the end was great too, but didn't get her name. One of the best organised tours I have done at a National trust property. Will definately recommend a visit.

Make sure you don’t miss Sunday’s special tours!
We had originally tried to visit on Saturday however when we arrived we found out that we needed to book onto a tour. The next one wasn’t for another hour and a half so we ended up booking for Sunday instead. We’re so glad we did as it turned out on Sundays they are working on introducing a different, new tour.
The usual tour discusses some of the objects found in the house that were collected by the last owner before the trust, Frank Green. A few key items were explained on the Sunday tour however the main focus was on the lives of the many different families who have inhabited the house.
The house itself feels very eclectic and varied showcasing items and decor of different time periods and this was really reflected in our tour. We heard stories of different residents throughout the history of the house and the impact they had on York and for some even further afield. Our guide Amy was so knowledgeable and passionate and was truly fascinating to listen to, the hour flew by! She answered our questions as we walked around and even shared a few ghost stories about the house.
We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this tour and would definitely recommend it if you too are lucky enough to be in York on a Sunday.

Brilliant place to visit. You have to do the tour, you can't just wonder around the house like most other NT houses. Also, the website doesn't say but you must book in advance otherwise you will almost certainly be disappointed! The staff are brilliant and it's a lovely place to go when in York.

Tour guide was very well informed and gave great details. He didn't rush and took the full hour. Only dropped a star because it's a guided tour only venue. We would have preferred to walk round at our own pace

This was our favourite place we visited whilst in York, although we come up here at least once a year it's nearly always in the winter when this beautiful building is shut.
This place you have to book a time for a guided tour, but if you have to wait awhile it's no problem, you can look around the gardens, have a root around the second hand books or visit the excellent 👌 tearoom.
Definitely ,one place to look around if you have a couple of hours in York to spare.

One of the most interesting National Trust properties I have visited. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us a really good sense of the history behind the house. Plus it was beautifully decorated for Christmas too. The cafe had plenty of space for everyone and the scones were delicious. A great day out.

It was lovely to be able to walk around both houses and gardens. Stunning views and Lots of information sheets to read about the properties and very informative friendly staff. A must to visit.

What a fascinating place, firstly, you do need to book as this is a guided tour. We did call in and manage to get on the tour 25 mins later, which was fine as we could stroll around the garden whil waiting. This was midweek so it may be a longer wait at the weekend, bank holiday etc. The house is really interesting and our guide was very interesting throughout the tour. Would highly recommend this NT house.

A really lovely experience. The gardens are lovely to walk around and smell the spring flowers. We are national trust members so this was an unexpected find. The tour lasted over an hour and there was only 8 of us on the tour so it felt very intimate and questions you had could be answered. The guides were very down to earth but also really knowledgable. Definitely allows you to connect with the area.
