We stayed overnight while visiting family in the area, room overlooking the river was excellent, enjoyed a tasty breakfast prepared by Tony after strolling by the river,we also had lunch served by friendly staff which was lovely and washed down by quality real ales, all in all a great place and can't wait to stay again, thank you!
Lovely gluten free chicken burger always a little paranoid when eating somewhere new but the chef was great came out checked everything was ok will be visiting again my other half really enjoyed the duck he ordered
We've stayed at The Ship Inn on a number of occasions. Fantastic gem of a place with great food, great staff. Many thanks yet again Tony and Sarah. Can't wait to come back
Four of us went for lunch on Sunday. It's a great location, the staff are welcoming and the food is good. We all had roast beef which was tender and tasty plus there were plenty of freshly cooked vegetables - great spot next to the river 😊
Great staff very friendly enjoyable place to have a pint and a bite
Went in Saturday night group of 9 last minute booking all I can say food was great staff very friendly bill came to just over £100 for drinks and meals for four adults and five kids which I think was very reasonable
Best food we have found in England so far! Staff were very friendly. Five stars!
Perfect little pub. Food was fantastic. Staff were lovely. Will definitely be visiting again
This was my parents' fav weekend getaway spot on the 70's and 80's so it was a bit if a nostalgic pilgrimage. The staff were very friendly, the service was great and the food was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Cracking pub, fantastic food and lovely staff topped off by being in a great area
We called in for lunch after walking our 2 dogs. We were made to feel welcome, the staff were polite and helpful. We sat out in the sun (I know sun in October) the owner even came to say hello to the dogs. The gardens are really nice with plenty of tables and water bowls for the dogs. Inside was really nice too with an open fire. We will definitely be back.
An impromptu visit after a day at York Maze, staff lovely, food delicious and atmosphere just what you want from a country pub - will definitely return, perhaps without the kids with an overnight to sample the later evening... 5 stars!!
Tony and Sarah are great hosts with a lovely venue and great food definitely recommend
Went during half term with a group of adults and kids. EVERYONE enjoyed their first rate food and looking forward to going again when we can enjoy the beer garden and watch the boats in the sunshine. Thank you all, we'll be back.
Amazing. Went for a family wake. Great food and excellent customer service. Made a sad occasion a great memory. Xx
Sunday Lunch - we live fairly local went along for Sunday lunch. There is a good sized car park, you can take a walk along the river Ouse, the pub is dog friendly and they have a large beer garden over looking the river. Great for summer & there is a lovely log fire in the bar area. The roast lamb dinner was delicious with proper Yorkshire puddings & we had the sticky toffee pudding & rhubarb crumble. Great spot.
Rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint and general maintenance but for the price it was perfect. Clean rooms and bathroom. Everything you need for an overnight stay. Our evening meal in the pub was amazing, top notch food, and thankfully gluten free options for me. Complimentary breakfast was a bit of a let down for me with no gluten free options except ham and cheeses. But had options of toast, muffins, waffles and cereal for others. Staff couldn't do enough, young lads serving food were super polite and helpful 👌
Been planning a trip to this pub for a while not been as years ,as I used to have a boat on the river, Did not dissapoint service 5 star from phone to book a table to arriving. Food Mitchelling star excellent, best chips I've had ever home made cooked to perfection and the steak was amazing. Reasonable priced and drinks . The young lad that was the waiter what an absolute little star he was very professional and well mannered. This pub is lovely inside and out and great to see dogs are welcome my labrador will be coming next time to sample the steaks . Keep doing what your doing team ship in you won't fail well done . See u soon the (Broughs) x
First time ive been back to the pub in years . Absolutely fantastic and wasnt disappointed. Log fire . Dogs welcome . And the food and drinks were reasonably priced . Very good value . I had the lasagne and it was lovely . Definitely need to visit more often
Food available Wednesday to Sunday. Great selection of beers and wine. Staff were great , lovely atmosphere dog friendly too.
Peace and quiet, beautiful spot, lovely
staff, ate here both nights we stayed food was amazing x
Only a couple of miles from the city centre but you wouldn't know it, rooms where lovely and cozy everything you needed to hand
Lovely warm welcome for us and the dog, real fire, cask beer and lovely food, what more could you need after a walk by the river
Exceptional food and service. A young team of staff but very polite, friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere in a lovely country pub.
A bit out of the way but right next to a caravan park so it took ages to get a drink. A bit short of staff but they did their best and everyone was doing their bit.
Food arrived in reasonable time and my steak pie was not only huge but also filled with tender meat. My wife had a small plate steak, which came with veg and fries and that was great and plentiful too.
We were spoilt for choice with good ales, and the food was seriously good, including substantial and tasty nachos and fish and chips that could have come from a proper chippy they were so good. All the staff were really friendly, too, and the garden was a lovely spot in the sunshine.
This place must be really busy in the summer, we've arrived on a wet December weekend. Fire was on though, friendly faces and comfortable surroundings.
Popped in for an afternoon coffee and to sit in their garden near the river. The young lady serving at the bar was very friendly and brought the coffees outside for us. Hot, well presented and a nice sized biscuit on the side. The Ship is local to us but is virtually next door to several very good holiday parks for Lodge, Caravan or Motorhome stays along with being residential itself. Very popular.
We were visiting York and walked here this weekend from our guest house a few hundred yards along the riverside path and had some lovely pub grub and a few pints of Theakstons; lovely pub with small but very friendly and efficient staff team. I believe they have changed hands recently and I am thinking they will do just grand 😁 We came back next day and sat outside in the sunshine, the garden has plenty of tables and is dog friendly, faces the river with ample free parking. All in all a great few days. They were serving Sunday lunch which looked and smelled great. We will return!
What a find. Room overlooking the river ouse.
Lovely country pub and evening meal was super.
Ian the barman was so helpful, nothing too much. Surprised to see him cleaning early nxt morning. Again nothing was too much trouble for breakfast guests. 10 outta 10 we aim to return
Lovely location. Had a smashing lunch of classic fish and chips after walking there from York along the river. Friendly and efficient staff. Beer garden recommended! Use it or lose it folks.
