I wanted to try more Yorkshire cheeses, and I was thrilled to find this well-stocked deli at the Shambles marketplace. They were popular for lunch sandwiches, too. I ordered a Wensleydale with walnut chutney, and chose a granary bread roll. This sandwich was huge and everything was fresh! I also bought two small wedges from their great cheese selection: Richard III and Cornish Yarg. Everything was delicious
Delightful single origin espresso from Peru! Cute shop with what looks to be quality goods. I could definitely see myself coming back to pick up gifts.
I went in to try and buy a jar of onion marmalade. They had no jars, but kindly gave me a small pot from the jar in their fridge which they use in sandwiches.

We had a picnic for six (including one gluten free) for a boat trip. The food was amazing and beautifully packed up with everything we needed. The gluten free member of our party has never been so well catered for. I cannot fault the food or the service and communications were excellent. I will be back to explore the Delicatessen when I’m next in York.
Such a fabulous unique little find that I can't wait to return, delicious food, fantastic value and very personable, friendly staff. The choice of homemade salads and really unusual concoctions, chutneys, cheese's. I had the homemade pate with salad and grainary bread and sat outside. The best pate I have ever had and they bill £3.50!!! Such great value and this is the shambles York. Many of my friends are vegan and there is a great choice. My visit here has definitely brightened my day.
Wonderful delicatessen and sandwich shop. The scotch eggs are awesome and the selection extensive. This is a little gem in the heart of York, seating outside for produce purchased from the shop. This establishment offers variety with great value for money.
Do great salad boxes. Delicious selection from meats to vegan. The scotch eggs are brilliant and the crab pate too. Great value. Will use your tubs so good for being green. Supports local produce.
As a surprise for my birthday, my family arranged a buffet for our Tea Time meal. We have been coming to this Deli for years and it has never disappointed. I don't think there is enough words to describe how amazing it was. The food was fresh and absolutely divine, the choices of meat and cheeses were fantastic and we pretty much sat there and filled our faces until we couldn't fit anything else in. The Chicken Liver Pate is are go too, and have never (and I mean never ever) found a pate as good as this one. Now working in the centre it is definitely my favourite place for lunch. Cant wait till we have an excuse to order again. Thanks so much :-)
We bought some sandwiches from a very tempting and tasty list . We’ll definitely have to go back so we can work our way through the options. York has so many beautiful looking food choices, have to say this tasted one of the best. Yum 😋
Great selection of meats, cheeses, spreads, and salads. Can be quite busy around lunchtime, they make wonderful take-away sandwiches! There are no seats inside but there are some benches around town so it is good if you want a fast, affordable, and fresh lunch or are going on a picnic.
