Carvery was absolutely amazing, lovely fresh tasting veg and the beef was to die for, the dessert I chose wasn't my cup of tea but my partners dessert was lovely
My family just went for a carvery me the wife and two kids and Nana. It was very good. The waiter was very pleasant and the carvery chef despite being stuck in what felt like a volcano in the corner was very nice and helpful.
The soup was very tasty and my wife rated her garlic mushrooms. The kids wolfed down their roast dinner too with no complaints.
The carvery meat was very tasty and the veggies were good too. I can't fault it tbh and would happily eat there again.
Amazing Sunday roast for an excellent price. The food was delicious and the amount was quite satisfactory.
It is a kind of roast buffet in which you can select up to two different kinds of meat and then as many garnishes as wanted, including Yorkshire pudding, smashed potatoes and several sauces.
Saw the carvery through the window as we walked by. Best carvery we've ever had. Tasted every bit as good as it looked. Staff welcoming and attentive, felt really looked after. Great experience. Highly recommend!!
Excellent for vegetarians. They have two proper vegetarian options (a nut roast and a wellington). We had the mushrooms, cranberry & brie Wellington with vegetarian gravy. The Wellington was delicious and the buffet format gives you more choice over the roast potatoes and veg (which we really valued).
If you're booking for two ask for one of the alcoves with stain glass windows. These are very romantic and cozy.
Service was warm and friendly.
It's particularly nice to see an upmarket restaurant with a meat focus that never the less doesn't neglect vegetarians.
Excellent food and very friendly staff. My wife and I stopped off for the carvery at 8pm and both thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend, especially as their portions are generously sized.
Hard to find a Car very in York. This one is so great and fairly priced. All carved meats are of the highest quality. Be sure to arrive early or get reservation as always packed.
Been to York a lot of times normally with a dog. This time the pooch was not with us so took the advantage of having a Carvery here, it was lovely and worth the money.
Excellent food and really friendly staff. It isn't hard to see why this restaurant has been going for 33 years plus. Well done everyone. Highly recommend.

Good homely charm. Delicious carvery with good choice of roast joints of meat. Ample vegetables and a full licensed bar and excellent service.
Delicious food off the meat buffet in a very nice atmosphere. Friendly personell. Decent prices. Will definitely eat here next time I visit York.
Had an amazing roast, I'm coeliac and the manageress took time and went through the menu with me. Gorgeous food.
A trip to Russells is always a must when visiting York. My favourite place for a roast dinner. Wish there was a Russells in Edinburgh, I would go every week!
