Couldn’t find any convenient dog friendly restaurant to try proper Yorkshire pudding. Found this carvery which is a plus and just out of crowded city centre. Plenty parking and dog friendly, good food and good price. Friendly staff
Great as always. Excellent atmosphere, great food and lovely staff. The general manager (Shaun) was brilliant and very funny. He made us laugh a lot and even sang happy birthday to my husband 🤣 We all went for birthday celebration with our family (6 of us in total) and had a lovely time. Doesn't t
We live locally and popped in for our first time for the Sunday carvery. We were really impressed with the selection and everything was tasty and hot. For gluten free people, it is worth noting that they provide gravy specifically, which is great. They were also really good at pointing out what was
Excellent value carvery. 1 large, 1 standard
Popped in for a carvery, food was lovely staff were friendly especially the new manager Shane 🙂 Will be back soon.
We ordered at takeaway online and used vouchers to pay part which unfortunately seemed to confuse the system and wouldn't let me pay. I drove round at the allocated time and the problem was swiftly and politely sorted out with the manager who kindly offered us a complimentary drink while we waited
Beautiful building and usually GK inside. Only GK ales on at my time of visiting but great place nonetheless. First port of call on a day visiting Cask Marque pubs. Certificate on display. Very nice place. Well done!
Just back from a Sunday Carvery was delicious and nice and hot. The most plus points have to go to the staff. We were greeted very warmly having only booked 2 hrs before. The hospitality of the Maitre De were fab. He made us and even recognised my perfume. We both left full and satisfied knocks spot
Visited today for the first time since Shane has taken over. Good hospitable service, very welcoming, great food. Also has a very lovely function room.
From the moment we came in to the moment we left we felt welcomed and looked after. Shane the manager is a great personality and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Carvery was very good. Will be back again

If you’re in the York area and looking for carvery or pub food then look no further than this amazing pub. 7 of us walked in without a booking on a day where the staff were already stretched our host and server, Shane, was a more than welcoming host with the perfect amount of banter to make us feel
Stopped here, on a Sunday, without booking between house viewings. Parking had plenty of room, great spot for the Volvo. Reserved a table and went for a walk to look at the house/Riverside. Came back, served. The team. The folk here were lovely. The guy who handled our reservation knew the area. Th
Thank You for fitting us in today when already busy, clearly and rightly a very popular place with delicious reasonably priced meals and a good pint of john smiths for my hubby. Very welcoming, friendly, polite staff and atmosphere nothing too much trouble we would highly recommend although book to
The food was good, the price was good and it was easy to park which is good with a toddler in the back screaming for egg. Tables on a Sunday can be difficult but managed to get us sat in a cozy little corner, our fault for not booking but it all worked out! Thank you!
