Couldn’t find any convenient dog friendly restaurant to try proper Yorkshire pudding. Found this carvery which is a plus and just out of crowded city centre. Plenty parking and dog friendly, good food and good price. Friendly staff

Great as always. Excellent atmosphere, great food and lovely staff. The general manager (Shaun) was brilliant and very funny. He made us laugh a lot and even sang happy birthday to my husband 🤣 We all went for birthday celebration with our family (6 of us in total) and had a lovely time.
Doesn't take long to wait for food. Carvery food was piping hot and delicious.
We will definitely be coming back.
Thank you

We live locally and popped in for our first time for the Sunday carvery. We were really impressed with the selection and everything was tasty and hot.
For gluten free people, it is worth noting that they provide gravy specifically, which is great. They were also really good at pointing out what was safe for my wife to eat.
It is really surprising how much difference staff can make to a place. They were all polite and friendly, with a particular shout out to Shane, the general manager.

Excellent value carvery. 1 large, 1 standard

We ordered at takeaway online and used vouchers to pay part which unfortunately seemed to confuse the system and wouldn't let me pay. I drove round at the allocated time and the problem was swiftly and politely sorted out with the manager who kindly offered us a complimentary drink while we waited for our meals. The food was great, plentiful and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Our second time using this pub and it gets a big thumbs up from us.

Beautiful building and usually GK inside. Only GK ales on at my time of visiting but great place nonetheless. First port of call on a day visiting Cask Marque pubs. Certificate on display. Very nice place. Well done!

Just back from a Sunday Carvery was delicious and nice and hot. The most plus points have to go to the staff. We were greeted very warmly having only booked 2 hrs before. The hospitality of the Maitre De were fab. He made us and even recognised my perfume. We both left full and satisfied knocks spots off a Toby
Thanks and keep up your hard work x

From the moment we came in to the moment we left we felt welcomed and looked after. Shane the manager is a great personality and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. Carvery was very good. Will be back again

Called in on way home from York. Food and service very good. Young girls on the till and entrance very polite and professional. Ordered the gluten free chicken and bacon salad with a side order of jacket potato and the Hunters chicken with chips from the main menu. Food was very nice. Will definately go back.

If you’re in the York area and looking for carvery or pub food then look no further than this amazing pub. 7 of us walked in without a booking on a day where the staff were already stretched our host and server, Shane, was a more than welcoming host with the perfect amount of banter to make us feel at home. All of us taking advantage of the brilliantly diverse menu all with exceptionally reasonable pricing. Myself having a pick and choose chicken item called ‘chick n mix’. Cooked perfectly and with amazing seasoning. We shared perfectly priced cocktail pitchers. the vegan in our party had plenty to choose from. There was a wait on food but it wasn’t noticeable. If you can stop in this place is better than just about everything with a similar price tag and the staff are truly incredible.

Stopped here, on a Sunday, without booking between house viewings. Parking had plenty of room, great spot for the Volvo. Reserved a table and went for a walk to look at the house/Riverside. Came back, served.
The team. The folk here were lovely. The guy who handled our reservation knew the area. The girl behind the bar was lovely and delivered drinks to our table whilst we got our carvery. The young lad on the carvery was jolly and courteous.
The food. All three meats with the extra pigs in blankets. Fresh not too soft not too hard broccoli, carrots, mash was buttery smooth. Toasties were crispy.
All in all. We will be back. Great work. Better than Toby.

Thank You for fitting us in today when already busy, clearly and rightly a very popular place with delicious reasonably priced meals and a good pint of john smiths for my hubby.
Very welcoming, friendly, polite staff and atmosphere nothing too much trouble we would highly recommend although book to avoid dissapointment. Keep up the fab team work...

The food was good, the price was good and it was easy to park which is good with a toddler in the back screaming for egg.
Tables on a Sunday can be difficult but managed to get us sat in a cozy little corner, our fault for not booking but it all worked out!
Thank you!

Ordered burger & chips, amongst 2other meals, when they arrived I was a bit shocked with the burger meal, only salad was a tiny bit of lettuce in the bread bun, and a small tub of coleslaw, the chips where in a small pot that resembled a plant pot, for the price I think it was a bit naff.
The two other meals where OK and definitely worth their price.

If I could leave 0 stars for this place I would. Absolutely awful place, not nearly enough staff meaning we waiting over 30 mins to place a food order then over an hour for the food to arrive. When it did finally arrive terrible is putting it mildly, my son ordered a sweetcorn side which wasn't even cooked. The Dirty Dip burger was supposed to come in a brioche roll instead it came in 2 slices of stale bread. Service is slow and food is beyond poor. There are much better pub in & around this area, avoid at all costs. We won't be returning.

Stopped on our way to Scarborough for some lunch, Looked amazing from the outside! Went in and a lot of tables were full of plates and glasses, went to order food and way a long wait as not enough staff on! Upon looking at our receipt we didn't get kids eat for a £1 but we already paid so left it as no one about to take it bk up with, food came and chips looked over cooked and meat was dry apart from my stake which was greasy! To top it off I ordered a kids meal with veg sticks and to my horror there was a FULL RED CHILLI 🌶 on my little girl plate mixed in with her veggie sticks!!!!! I was going to tell a manager but no one came to check if our meals were ok and after standing at the bar to talk to someone in end I got fed up and walked out! Very understaffed or more training needed in my point of view not good customer service
Mark Sellers
Shocking quality of food i ordered a pit burger the picture on the menu looks great howerver when it came it was the same size as a kids burger just 3 times more expensive.
I used to go all the time now i remember why i stoped going. Cold food, staff look bored all the time and they are not very helpful apart from the odd one, shocking quality of food (even Wetherspoons is alot beter) overall a poor effort.
Kelly Rickers
Absolutely disgusting, don't actually know how you are allowed to sell food! My garlic bread was dropped from the plate and the waiter grabbed it and shoved it back on the plate, it was ok tho as he said he had just washed his hands kids meals were cold, won't be going back!

Stopped off here for a pint while in a long hike. Because like, when am I ever hiking in York and finding N awesome pub to take a break. Any who, stopped in and ordered a pint of the local pale ale. Forgot the name but hot damn that was good! Sat outside and caught up on my farmers tan. Would definitely return. Oh but my mates beer was sour.

Booked a table for 3:30. Reasonably quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Got seated and decided what to eat. Went to order at the only till available for food and drink orders. There was a queue for food orders as a family were ordering for a large party both food and drink. The lady serving took the order and also served the many drinks too. Would it not be better as there is only 1 till for ordering food to have another staff member getting the drinks ready. Or even better have a few tills for food orders. Very frustrating! Having said that the young waiter that served our food was very polite and friendly and a credit to Riverside Farm. Food was lovely too. Please increase the number of tills you use for taking food orders and get more staff please. Many thanks.

Will not be going back after finding ants on the table and chairs also have now shot coat out after finding ants in coat that was on chair staff did not apologise just said thanks for telling us did not take any details, also had to ring back to see if anything was been do about ants

Hired the function room for my mums party. Was a fantastic night. Great buffet. Staff couldn’t have done more to help with arrangements. Definitely recommend.

My food was cold , it tasted bland , I had hairs on my plate , the staff were extremely rude and all I could hear was foul language coming from the kitchen , I asked for a refund but was not refunded !

Admittedly when we went, it was quiet, but the music wasn't intrusive, the food was served quickly and there was plenty of it. Good value, nice staff, and very nice food, much better than our Christmas party at the Hilton! Well done and all the best for 2018.

Whilst the service was good, the food was appalling. Roast dinner with dried out veg, watery gravy, dry chicken, rubbery beef both of which had a very bad awful taste. Very bad.
