Sora Sky Bar

Came here for dinner around 9pm on a Saturday night. The food is really nice but because music was a bit too loud for our taste as we had to raise our voices to be able to hear each other. The vibe of the music was also a bit too clubby for our taste, we expected it to be more lounge-esque. There was a lady who started playing a saxophone on top of the music which was a bit jarring, and she seemed to only play for about 10 minutes before stopping and leaving. The bill for a party of 5 with food and several rounds of cocktails came to just short of £400, so definitely a treat rather than a regular visit. Hopefully if we come again the music will be a bit quieter and less clubby.

Sora is a rooftop bar located at the Malmaison hotel. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. When arriving we were warmly greeted and asked where we would prefer to sit. It was quite windy outside so we were given a blanket, nice touch. The menu offers a wide variety of cocktails, wines, spirits and small bites and sushi. Plenty of options for everyone. The music is very nice and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Overall a very nice and relaxed experience, with amazing views of York and the Minster! Definitely recommend!

Amazing eastern tapas and even more amazing service - our waitress Georgia was great as she was so friendly and also helped us decide what to have to eat. It was overall a great experience and thank you to all the lovely staff. We were visiting York on a yearly sisters meet up and will definitely return here next time.

We came here for our anniversary, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here . The gentleman on the entrance was super polite , and informative, the staff were working very hard yet with a smile , and the food and drinks were absolutely fantastic we had several sushi rolls and sashimi platter and tiger prawns (highly recommended) .This was our second visit here , but definitely not the last one as we will return very soon for sure .

Living in York I wanted to check Sora out. The ambiance was ok, a little unnecessarily pretentious. Some background music would have been nice, the seats are not so great, seating needs to be higher to appreciate the view. Service was good, food was great. Overall a good experience even if a couple got wasted at 3pm (3x bottle of wine) I heard the server telling someone! It was lovely, and I would go back, but I won’t rush back.
