Rustic period property with loads of interesting history and lovely grounds.
Great value for money.
We are particularly fond of this hotel for family reasons. Must say we had mixed feelings about going as we had heard various reports. But the staff were extremely friendly, food was very good. It was for a special occasion and they did everything I had asked for. Decor is very different! Have seen this hotel over the years change and it never fails to please. Very close to Southwold, Aldeburgh and a visit to snape is worth it too. Watch out for the hidden/exit entrance though, on the tight bend.
We spent the night here Easter Monday and had a very relaxing lovely stay. The room was clean and very warm. But the best part was the breakfast. The gentleman who checked us in, checked our water and generally seemed to be running everything cooked me up the most amazing vegetarian breakfast. I have read some reviews about Satis House not being the same since the previous owners left, and I do have fond memory of a very decadent lunch there several years back, however I found the new relaxed atmosphere very welcoming and we had everything we asked for and attentive friendly service throughout.
Our whole stay was lovely, we stayed in the orangery room and it was gorgeous. The food is fantastic. The staff are really attentive. The lady with the curly hair is definitely a credit to the hotel ( I don't know her name I'm sorry)
It's a very short drive to the beach also.
My Girlfriend and I had a really lovely stay at Satis House. The house is conveniently located just off the A12 and is easy to find. Ben the manager was very helpful and checked me in and also carried my luggage to the room. The room was tastefully decorated and the Bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever stayed in.
The Dinner was very tasty and included in the room price. Will most definitely will be back and thanks again to Ben and Dylan for making the stay so special.
Very grand hotel, very helpful staff. Staying in the Attic Room up lots of steep stairs but worth the view. Great choice at breakfast. Lovely Rococo's restaurant and bar, decorated with gold embossed wallpaper and easy listening music. Georgian style house and takes you back to a more relaxed time. Not suitable for children.
Stayed here on the bank holiday weekend as a last minute weekend away with my boyfriend, and it was a cute hotel. We liked the room and the bed was super comfortable. We got a good deal of £129 for the both of us, which included a room for one night, 3 course dinner in the hotel and breakfast the next morning. We didn’t even get up for breakfast because the bed was so comfortable!! The only thing I would say is it needs a bit of a refurbishment as it is looking a bit run down.
The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re looking for somewhere cosy to stay in Suffolk.
Stayed here on a few occasions now. Each time i have really enjoyed the stay. Rooms are clean tidy and well equipped. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is stunning and the food is exceptional i ate like a king for the whole week. Faultless !
We had booked one of the best rooms, Framlingham, as it was our wedding anniversary. It was delightfully decorated with matching soft furnishings and a four poster bed and a balcony! We had an evening meal here in a dinning room with soft lighting. The food was delicious and well presented and served by the owner! The very full English breakfast was served in another dining. All very indulgent!
Very enjoyable stay whilst visiting the area good food lovely but little strange ambiance. Very helpful staff would stay again if visiting that area 😀
On arrival, set back in lovely grounds. Beautiful elegant building . Our room had a large front balcony with a 4 poster bed and a seating lounge area. Very elegant with all the finishing touches. Overall attentive service, would stay again.
amazing interior lovely room staff were really helpful
We had often driven past Satis House Hotel, as we love the area and often caravan locally, but as a special treat for me my wife booked a couple of nights for my 60th birthday,
On arriving we were greeted by Ben with a cheery hello,I joked that we had great expectations and Ben said they'd do their best... Ben showed us to our room the Framlingham a lovely room with a antique four poster bed, Mini bar, selection of sweets and treats and tea and coffee, Two very comfortable armchairs in front of the fireplace and TV. french doors to a large balcony with table and chairs and view over the grounds and driveway.
The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The furniture was old and suited the room perfectly made of wood and not a fibreboard flat pack in sight , three mirrors in the room which made an already big room appear even more spacious... good sized bathroom. after a wash and rest we headed down to the bar to be greeted by Ben again, he served our drinks (House Red was lovely ), we ordered our Dinner, I had the Soup which was a tasty noodle soup with just enough bite to its taste, Wife had crayfish salad which she said was very tasty and a very generous portion size, Followed by steak cooked to perfection and full of flavour (we found out later that most of the menu is sourced locally and it does make a difference, local businesses supporting other local businesses Top Marks guys). I was full by now but my wife can't pass on a sweet menu and chose the Pineapple fritters, Freshly made and served with Ice Cream was delicious..
Day 2 woke to the sound of birds chirping and sunshine the weather forecast was for cloudy and rain, but the sun was shining as we went down for breakfast.. and what a Breakfast, Great selection of Cereals teapots made of china and didn't drip all over the table (one of my biggest complaint at hotels is the teapots) but Satis House have got that sorted, choice of tea was a nice touch too.. we went for the Satis house breakfast with scrambled eggs both day although the other choices did sound nice, but a good full English is our choice everytime, Local Bacon and sausages, Black Pudding, Grilled tomatoes that were cooked unlike the salad tomato most hotels serve as grilled but still raw, these toms were cooked to perfection and really tasty. after a day enjoying the local area we returned to Ben again with his cheery smile and greeting, by now we were loving the place so much more inviting than the chain hotels where the staff are just there for wages and not for the guests. My wife noticed that there were soft shelled crab on the website menu and asked if I could have one, Softshell crab is one of my favourite dishes and since discovering them in New Orleans many years ago, I order them whenever i see them on a menu, Ben said no problem and served the Best soft shelled crab I've eaten in the UK and pretty much on par with the ones in New Orleans, Just the right amount of spice Purrfect!!! Followed by the Belly of pork with crispy crackling, Cabbage cooked not stewed and potatoes again generous portion size and very tasty...
Overall if you're looking for a boring chain hotel with no atmosphere and plastic wood everywhere don't book at the Satis, if you're looking for a friendly welcoming Hotel you've found it here, we are already planning another visit soon, we left feeling relaxed after a couple of nights, almost forgot, the music played in the bar was a perfect volume not too loud not to quiet, and easy listening. Big Thanks to Ben who exceeded our Great Expectations.. By Dickens he did..
The room was excellent (We stayed in the orangry) which was first class. The hotel has an excellent restaurant which serves first class food. The breakfast menu is superb and the food again is top notch. Friendly and efficient staff who are willing to go the extra mile to make your stay as good as possible.
