I'll start off by saying whoever makes the cakes, needs to come and be a live in cake maker at my house forever as soon as I walk in I'm like a kid in a sweet shop with all the stuff they have to sell! I'd never been in the cafe part before until a few weeks ago, me and my Mam had just came back from breakfast in Newcastle, however I seriously contemplated on 'second breakfast' but settles for a hot chocolate instead, amazing!! All staff are always so lovely too, the butcher is always happy chappy, which is lovely! I've never been one to rave so much about one place but Knitsley farm shop is just something else, I've got to start remembering you're shut on Mondays, I keep turning up and driving away wanting to cry Hahahaha! Visited here for the first time today and got a very warm welcome from all staff we came into contact with. Jackie was the lady who took our order in the cafe and brought the food to our table and she was very friendly couldn’t do enough for you. Food was amazing. Farm shop well what can I say this place has everything really pleased I had ate breakfast before I went in as wasn’t tempted to buy loads of goodies just picked up my fresh veg and meat order. This will definitely be a place we will visit again.

Visited here for the first time. Sadly didn’t have time to stay and eat but it looked lovely. Seating area outdoors as well as indoors. Dog friendly. Will definitely be back to have lunch.. We actually went for the farm shop which did not disappoint. Lovely choice of local produce and items from other farms/artisans. The staff looked very proud of their produce and rightly so! Bought some Cumberland sausage made on site and some yummy looking burgers! Will be back for sure. Large car park. Slightly tricky to get to as the lane to the farm is only wide enough for 1 vehicle.

Went today & man o man what a fantastic place, . Plenty of parking, but beware to turn left b4 the barns into the carpark. Otherwise, you end up in the farm yard... i didn't take any pictures of the courtyard as ppl were eating & looked like they were eating plates fullof local food..we bought a number of items from the farm shop ourselves..gets a 12/10 from me, definitely worth a visit but would imagine it gets very busy at times..

I only found out about this lovely little farm shop through an online article in the Chronicle i think it was. I googled it. Checked reviews and looked through the photos and txt my partner the link so we could go and take a visit. The drive from Durham was pleasant with beautiful countryside views. I wore my big coat and woolly hat as I know up this way can get very cold and windy. I made a good choice, lol. On arriving the car park had plenty of spaces, we had arrived late on in the day. It was quiet, hens and sheep playing in the fields. Was lovely to see. We went down and into the entrance to be greeted with warmth, a smile, and a cosy little cafe. In the centre of the room was a lovely little log burner. It wasn't on but I'm sure looks and feels great when it is. The decor is clean, fresh and of the farmhouse country feel which i love. From the ceiling beams ,hung artificial hops which gave it a nice touch. We sat near the nook on a comfy sofa with a long farmhouse coffee table, decorated with a farm style table cloth. Lovely farmhouse cottage style tiled floor. The painting opposite us was painted so well. A lovely touch to a corner they called the nook. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The wait for food wasn't too long. When the food arrived, I was all 'oooh that looks delicious', mouth watering at the sight of it. Then, I looked at mine and was a tiny disappointed. I ordered the steak pie, mushy peas, and dipping chips. Due to our late arrival there weren't any left, so we had fries. They were cooked nice but I do hope to come back and try the dipping chips. The pie looked good, but very small for what I've had in the past at farmhouse pubs and cafes. The pastry and especially the meat and gravy inside was amazing. Melt in the mouth amazing! So yes, although this pie was beautiful, it was not at all big enough, maybe for a child tho. Now, onto my partners dinner, we'll this had the whole wow that looks awesome reaction from me! I couldn't stop looking at it, to the point where I just had to order one! Yes, that's right on top of my pie. I still had room for this beast of a baguette. Well presented. Mouth wateringly so! The coleslaw was the best my partner had had, he said. My partner isn't a foodie like me. He likes the basics. Pizza. So to hear him say that even the salad on the side was really nice and it was the best meal he'd had all week was great. Now my opinion is yes , looked mouth watering. Coleslaw was beautifully creamy. Salad and baguette was beautiful, too. The meat didn't quite cut it like the meat in the pie. I could taste more baguette and salad than the meat but saying that I had already eaten and by this time it was near closing time. I will 💯 be back and will order this again. As it was beautifully made. My aim is try everything on the menu. Desert was a ginger and lemon cake. It was different but beautiful. Went down very well. The contrast between the ginger sponge layers and the lemon cheesecake style layers was lovely. My partner thought the consistency reminded him of cheesecake, and i thought the ginger sponge layer reminded me of Jamaica cake! I'm not one for deserts so I'm sorry my review on this cake isn't very good. But for all the cake lovers out there, go for it. Served with cream in a little jug, which went very well together. We didn't get to see any other cakes due to it near closing time, but we shall be hopeful to sample some next time. This is a beautiful, quiet countryside farmhouse cafe that I am pleased to have read about and visited. We will back soon. Ps we explored the shop briefly on closing time. Fab lil shop. Can't wait to buy the Northumberland nettle cheese!

Really well presented Farm shop and Cafe just off a main road and cycle path. The cafe food was really tasty, Bacon was a bit too fatty but still enjoyable. Staff were really pleasant and efficient. We sat for brunch in the courtyard on a picnic bench in the blazing sun which was lovely. Vehicle entrance is really tight and easily missed. Farm shop is impressive with a good selection of fresh and preserved foods, local wines and spirits. Definitely worth a trip to visit. We couldn’t leave without a slice of the Lemon Meringue Pie….(see the photos. The Italian meringue was Marshmallowy) Will be returning and recommending.

Knitsley farm shop, located next to national cycle route 14. A great place for a pit stop while out on a long cycle ride, it’ has all the facilities to accommodate cyclists, from cycle racks to water filling station. The staff are very friendly and accommodating to cyclists, the coffee and food are of exceptional quality, a real farm shop. The owners are also keen cyclists too, the only thing that I saw that needed some area of improvement, was to add secure places to accommodate ebike charging stations, for the increased numbers of ebike riders using the trails. I look forward to stopping here again. Be aware this place gets very busy during the good weather. My second visit to knitsley farm shop on 28/07/22 for a morning coffee while out on my bike ride, and stopped there on way back for my lunch too, once again. Great food and service. I also got something I never ever expected to receive while at knitsley farm shop, a text message from nhs COVID-19 tracking, that I’ve been in contact with someone with COVID omicron, and now I’ve been told to take a test, these are not free anymore, I never expected to receive this while out on my bike ride, I informed a staff member too.

Amazing food, Lovely staff, clean and delicious. Not wheelchair friendly though, unless you eat outside on a nice day Edit: visited again today and had three meals two teas and a coffee for £35! So cheap I was shocked how cheap it was! I was really impressed by the butcher also very knowledgeable and didn't mind me asking lots of questions

lovely Farm Shop, the sausage rolls and Corned beef pasty were some of the best we have had. We bought some corned beef from the deli which is home made and in another league. Lots of other lovely items on sale, we will stop in on our way home. The butcher counter looks great too. Visited again on our way home, We bought some items from the Deli and meat from the counter. All fabulous quality lovely friendly helpful staff. We will definitely pop in next time we are in the area.

This is a lovely place to visit. Delicious frangipane tart, large selection of great looking meats and cheeses. Delicious 'Knitsley smokie sausage' which I took away to form the centre of a lovely dinner. :p
