We’ve been coming to Aberystwyth for the comedy festival, and our favourite restaurant had changed hands so we wanted to find somewhere new. It was pure chance that we found the Bulgarian Kitchen, its friendly green exterior and soft lighting convinced us to step inside. The atmosphere is refreshingly simple and warm, with traditional Bulgarian music played in the background. The rich red covered bench tables are more than enough space if you’re a couple or a bigger party. The concise menu of traditional dishes allow many needs and tastes, and the food is served fresh and piping hot. Service is very courteous and friendly. This is a very popular restaurant, but there is plenty of seating, and waiting time for dishes is very reasonable and well worth the wait. The restaurant has a licence so you can have alcohol with your meal, or coffee. If you want to escape the identical characterless eateries, the Bulgarian Kitchen is packed with character and atmosphere a flavour of is country and a real destination to eat and experience. We’ll come back again soon!

As tourists from Turkey we were treated excellently and I can certainly say that this restaurant is one of the best places to eat in this city. The portions are huge and the price is well worth it. The fries we had were excellent along with the chicken steak. Afterwards we also went for the Kofte or meatballs which were also great. I would certainly recommend this place as a person who has been to Bulgaria many times and very good even considering the home country’s standards. Thanks

Absolutely delicious, homely food in a place with lots of traditional charm, served by a fantastic waitress and chef. The ambience alone is worth going for. Me, my partner and our son really enjoyed our meal. Thank-you both for a lovely evening!

A-ma-zing! Very tasty home made food. Really tastes like the food I had in Bulgaria. The service is excellent and you can also buy some sausages to go. Edit 09.2022: new place, same great quality!

What a lovely find! Eat here! I am so glad the first few places I called were fully booked. Unique little restaurant with fresh, good food. The portions are generous and a fantastic value. It was £43 for 4 adult meals and a child’s meal (probably the best chicken nuggets I’ve ever had)… 5 drinks and 4 desserts. The waitress who I believe may have also been the owner was extremely helpful and answered lots of our questions about menu items. Service was quick and efficient. I will definitely come back here! We also bought a few bits and pieces from the little Bulgarian food shop they have there… lovely biscuits and sweets. Just try it! Trust me.
