Lovely old pub. Very welcoming. Great staff. Excellent service. On our first visit just enjoyed a drink while we sat outside and watched the world go by. Based on our first experience we chose to come back for lunch another day. Again welcomed as soon as we arrived and ordered a drink when we chose our lunch from a great menu. Ordered lunch which arrived shortly thereafter. We had steak sandwich & chips and Portabello mushrooms with beetroot & feta salad. The beetroot was so fresh and very tasty and the feta was some of the best I've had. The mushrooms were really yum. 10/10 from us.

The kind of pub you want as your local! Great vibe, authentic (non pretentious) pub! This was my first schnitty and it was amazing! The creamy mushroom sauce was insanely good!

If I could give this place zero stars I would, the only star that should be given is to the security for being extremely friendly and understanding. Popped into the Exeter Hotel with a group of mates as we were passing by on a themed 70’s night, and was refused service of any drink (not even water) before being escorted out after discussions with security. We were not acting inappropriately, extremely polite in trying to work out what is going on and as for a matter of fact we were pretty much sober. Apparently if you’re in a group dressed up with patterned shirts for a night out, it’s classified as a “pub crawl” and you’re not allowed entry. There was 7 of us. 7. Not 10+... I’ve been out in larger groups dressed in regular clothes that were extremely intoxicated and was still served. Bar manager was rude and wouldn’t even come talk to us herself which is shameful. We were welcomed in by another pub up around the corner that was happy with our presence and money. Would much rather give my money to other deserving pubs that have struggled during COVID in the area and recommend others to do the same.

A great old school pub with friendly staff, decent wine list and I'll be back to eat the mushroom gnocchi next time it's on the menu. Either way they have excellent hot chips!

Friendly service, nice to sit outside and have a drink, watching the world go by. Jug of pale ale for $25.

Met up with some friends for a couple of drinks and social catch up. Great location for it as it was central to the CBD area and had both indoor and outdoor seating. We actually took advantage of both given the weather was interchangeable whilst we enjoyed our drinks. The only let down about this location was that we were there on a Friday and there was no lunch menu available - we were advised no kitchen til 6pm. Therefore if you are looking for lunch this place might not be the option for you.

Beer on tap doesn't taste the same as other pubs & very strange flavour. Same beer elsewhere better. Spent $10 on a pint thinking it had changed in ten years only to have a sip. Left beer & walked out. Rats running into the kitchen area from outside reminded me of Fawlty Towers final episode. Not healthy. Rats are problem for businesses in that side of Rundle St but a bar should not them in with doors open.
