Usually ok £8.50 for lunch and a dessert is good value for money. The roast beef was a little bit dry this time. Should've opted for the braising steak. Still waiting for my horseradish sauce 🙄

Stopped here for lunch to break a long car journey. Turned out to be a very good choice - friendly, very good food. Very reasonably priced too! We'll call again next time we set off on our travels.

Good pub grub for a reasonable price, had the braising steak and thoroughly enjoyed it. Knocked a star off because it's cash only, even i take card payments in the middle of a field on Tansley Sunday market

The wobbly wanderers were passing and as it was lunch time in we went.
The pub was busy but we managed to find a table with ease.
I opted for a Stella and Chicken in white wine the other wanderer elected for a J2O and roast of the day(Beef).
After a longish wait our food arrived hot and sizzling.
The portions were excellent and the quality of selected food was excellent.
At £6.95 a head including a choice of sweet it's well worth a visit.

Looks run down on outside and a bit inside but food is amazing, especially the carvery, one of the best pub food ever. Will definitely return however one four stars as there needs to be more clarity of when you can eat! There's not a lot of the website or signs outside doesn't explain in enough detail as have turned up and been told no food is being served on a Saturday.
Most of the staff are great, only the odd one or two that don't seem to be friendly

Great for Sunday roast. Very good choices in both meats and vegetables. Gets a little crowded due to the popularity of the place. Car parking a bit awkward. But you can't have everything for the price of the meals, again excellent value.

We arrived here as a result of a reservation at a nearby restaurant having fallen through. This is a great homely pub with wonderful food. The staff and locals were very friendly and the menu extensive. We were expecting to wait as the food is freshly prepared but it was worth it! This was the best value, and best overall experience we have had in ages
We will be back!
