Firstly we were walking the first part of the South Downs Way and the owners allowed us to leave a bag with them! We arrived soaking wet and they were very welcoming, even drying our wet gear! The cream tea, cooked breakfast and packed lunch we had were great! Great place. Great village. Great hosts. Thoroughly recommended! 😀

Relaxing quaint atmosphere, lovely very yummy cream teas and very friendly staff. You can also take your furry friends🐶 in with you , they are given a dish of water. Keep up the great work

Popped in here today for afternoon tea. Great staff who were very welcoming and who gave a 1st class service. Four legged friends on a lead made welcome as well. Homemade cakes were excellent. Nice to have china crockery, everything was perfect. The eggs Benedict looked excellent, so will have these on the next visit. Highly recommeded, a treat not to be missed if you are in the area.

What a gem of a tearoom and B&B! Mary and her husband were so hospitable throughout our two night stay. The bed was so comfy; the bathroom was modern and super clean. The breakfast was really delicious and of a high quality. We also sampled the cake and scones; again delicious. I highly recommend stopping here along the South Downs Way!

What a lovely friendly gem this is. We booked this as a one night B&B during our South Downs walking holiday. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely ( I judge by the quality of the sausages, they were great). I would certainly highly recommend staying here, we were sadly unable to experience their cream teas mainly due to our own timing of arrival and departure. It's a lovely friendly village and we'll be coming back at some point.

We celebrated a special birthday here with afternoon tea. The food was delicious, served in a lovely traditional setting. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend it.

This tea room is always so friendly and welcoming. I've been here for cream tea and lunch, and both times I've really enjoyed the food on offer. I especially appreciate the gluten free scones and cakes! As well as the food, they also have lots of locally made items on display for sale, e.g. jewellery.

What a fantastic little find! As a Vegan, it can sometimes be tricky to find things to eat in smaller establishments such as tea rooms. Chestnuts is great for Vegans! The lady couldn’t have been more helpful. I had a gorgeous vegan sausage bap for breakfast. If I wanted, I could’ve had a breakfast or a gorgeous looking chocolate cake! They’re getting a Vegan menu together at present, so it’ll only get better! Fantastic!

Wonderful atmosphere. Really cosy and kitsch. Delicious hand made cakes, the scone was spot on. It's 40 miles away from me and I'd drive there again just for a fantastic afternoon tea. Prices are surprisingly reasonable! All round great hour spent here.

I stayed at the Chestnuts bed and breakfast in March, 2013 with my girlfriend. The bed was roomy and comfortable and the room was kept toasty warm (despite the cold outside). Breakfast was a generous and very tasty English breakfast with piles of toast and coffee. We had a great chat with Mary (the proprietress) during breakfast and she offered us advice on what to do in the area. In the evening we settled down in the tea rooms with some books we borrowed from the owners. I would recommend Chestnuts to anyone who's interested in pleasant company, good books and a good nights sleep in the South Downs.
