Quaint looking tearooms on the market square in Allendale, with a good range on the menu (including my toasted cheese scone with brie, tomato and chutney which was excellent and unusual.) The welcome was friendly, the service a little slow as they had an unexpected rush of a large family at another table, and the inside atmosphere not quite as quaint as the outside appearance belies. Worth popping in to if you’re actually in Allendale, but not worth a special trip.
Really nice, friendly, café in the middle of Allendale. Better food and it's less expensive than the Forge. Put it at the top of your list...
We love the way the new owners have made changes to make this café more appealing to a wide range of visitors. Unfortunately many of the reviews listed here relate to the period when the previous owners were here. Now things have changed for the better and earlier reviews should be ignored.
This is an excellent place. Spotless, great service, lovely food and variety, cakes to die for, and a quite unexpected conversation about Icelandic Sagas. Highly recommended
1st Rate experience. Fab room and lovely people. Food was second to none. Highly recommended and would definitely return
Good food, nice location with really good staff. Reasonably priced too! Definitely worth a trip.
Very nice place my only criticism is I would have liked a bigger cup off coffee very small cups but nice tasting coffee, pleasant staff .
Very warm and friendly staff. Had the best scrambled eggs on toast here.
Comfortable, friendly service, a snack or full meal and a full range of drinks. A really nice place with lots of parking on hand.
Clean and cosy tea room with friendly staff. The food was great too.
