What an absolutely amazing place! The manager was really friendly and welcoming with a wealth of knowledge about the history of the building and the surrounding area. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was indescribably delicious. Cooked to perfection, with chunky fluffy, crisp chips that could almost transport you to Nirvana! Every member of staff made our visit well worth the almost 3 hour drive and we will definitely visit again, which gives us a good reason to explore more of Dorset!

Had not been here for years and what a pleasant and vast improvement from my last visit A great pub in the middle of Dorset Countryside with well manicured grounds, loads of our side sitting and tables, small kids play area ,lovely lush lawns.... bird song and farm tractors!! Plenty of Parking too. The best but was inside,a great well modernised but tastefully retaining the 14th Century feel of a home and pub. Down side not many Ales on tap😭 however the menu and food made up for it Great presentation and the food was tasty and worth the wait. Will be back with friends and family.

This place has improved dramatically. We last visited about 4 years ago and since then the outside has been landscaped beautifully. The food was absolutely perfect, the service was fabulous, plenty of choice on the menu and the children's menu. The play area has moved leaving the area where it used to be as a seating area which though it is a large area, feels private wherever you sit due to the landscaping. It's stunning. We will definitely be going back soon! Edit: We went back today (a Sunday) and had the roast beef. To be honest the food wasn't great unfortunately, the potatoes were quite hard and the Yorkshires over done. Also, we had a long wait for our food (not great when you have two little people sat there getting bored), after we had finished eating our main, tables were being cleared around us but staff weren't paying any attention to us. We could see they were busy so didn't want to bother them and figured they would get to us eventually, but after an hour of sitting there with a table of dirty plates we decided to just go up and ask for the bill and leave. We had hoped to have desserts there but couldn't wait any longer. All in all I wasn't particularly happy with our visit though we are likely to go back again in the hopes that the next visit is more like the first. Edit (again): We visited again on a week day in the summer holidays and had another fantastic experience. The food was spot on, the staff were great (it wasn't busy at all and we mostly had the place to ourselves. It's one of our favourite places to eat locally. But somewhere we wouldn't go for a Sunday lunch because of the previous experience. It's also worth noting that if you have a coeliac member of your group, there are plenty of gluten free options which makes it all the more enjoyable when that is one of your requirements.

What an amazingly high-quality pub/restaurant. The outdoor dining area in the walled garden has superb planting, plenty of space, and loads of summer sun : ) Food was top quality, along with wine and the ale. Landlord kindly let us park overnight for a couple nights (Britstop), while we were off cycling in the lanes. Don't know if I can think of a better manicured pub and garden. I recommend it heartily.

I travel to over 40 pubs per month . As a Surveyor. This public house is fantastic. The lovely location it is in. Also the building itself. The Staff are friendly polite and very helpful. The food was excellent as nice to see a change of Roasts. We ordered a Roast sharer. Which was a cut of lamb stuffed. On a lovely wooden server. With a pot of gravy which was full of flavour and had an excellent taste. This came with accompanying Roast potatoes/ mixed veg. Fresh locally grown. As you could taste the difference. Also cauliflower cheese. Plus fantastic fresh made Yorkshire puddings. This feast was only £36. The Manager was very attentive throughout. I would highly recommend this public house & restaurant. As it was a fantastic experience. Many other public houses. Could learn from this public houses. Glorious 👍

Went for lunch on Saturday with friends. We all had 3 course and every bit of each course was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious. The burger isn't for the faint hearted, beautiful. In terms of service, the waiting on staff were fabulous. Very friendly, smiley with great attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble. Definitely look forward to another visit.

Just had Sunday Roast dinner here today with my son! The food was delicious and good value for money. The service was very pleasant and attentive . The atmosphere was lovely and friendly, as the new Manageress came and chatted to us , advising that they took over the pub management a week ago! I wish them all the best and would recommend them to all my family and friends.
