Lovely little country pub on the road to Alresford. It's very easy to drive past but it's well worth stopping for a visit.
We dropped in for lunch on a sunny spring afternoon and were very glad we did. The food was excellent (steak and ribs), the beers were well kept and the pub had a real sense of age and tranquility about it.
We will be back
My wife and I took my parents here for Sunday lunch to celebrate Father’s Day. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Great Sunday lunch menu and the food was delicious. I recommend the ‘nutless roast’ - their very tasty vegetarian option - and their roast potatoes are amazing. Also the chocolate brownie was a generous size and dripping with rich chocolate. Very good value too. This pub has a lovely, unpretentious homely feel. So glad to have it as our local!
Sunday lunch after a walk around Hinton Ampner. Nice nautical themed pub with onsite parking and plenty of tables. Food was good but would score 5 🌟 if the allergen information was a bit easier to find. Gluten free available and staff were very friendly!
Visited The Ship with friends and their 16 month old daughter on a Saturday lunchtime and couldn't have been made more welcome. The food was home cooked and delicious without being overly fancy and served on a roof slate! Service was impeccable and we would recommend to others and revisit without fail.
Great country pub Good food . Staff are excellent. Had a great meal with friends. Very welcoming. Would recommend.
Thank you .
Generally made to feel welcome, charming friendly atmosphere and amazing food such quality
What a lovely, cosy and traditional pub. Excellent food, freshly cooked, and good quality ingredients. Ambient and comfortable interiors, clean pub, friendly staff, nice toilets! Nicely decorated inside, not trying to be too fancy, just naturally a nice place to relax with tasty food. Glad it's local to me, I will be back!
Attended with my in laws and 3 year old for a late lunch. Pleasant food. Ate in the garden so cant comment on atmosphere
Staff friendly and welcoming.
Only criticism would be the chips were overly salted for me and there was only 1 childs option for food. Still happy to give 5 stars as was very nice good for a pub lunch in the garden.
Ate at the Ship Inn as a group of five on a Tuesday night. It was a throughly enjoyable experience, the staff were warm and welcoming and the food was good hearty pub grub, of a really nice quality. Table was booked for 19:30 and even though they were due to close at 21:00 they stayed open a little later to allow us to have deserts. Would throughly recommend.
Don't be deceived by the outside, the food is freshly made, good produce and tasty. A slightly limited menu but well worth going. Staff very pleasant and hospitable.
