I recently won a competition for a free meal at Gonbay. I remember this place from years ago and how good it was.
We visited on Saturday night and was pleased to say it hasn’t changed a bit! The staff were outstanding and so welcoming. The speed of the food to the table was exactly how I like it. Enough time between each course and not waiting forever.
The food was fantastic. Chicken skewers in satay sauce and honey spare ribs to start, followed by sweet and sour chicken , chicken foo yung, egg fried rice and salt and pepper chips for mains. All had a great taste and flavour and we were well and truly stuffed at the end!

Stand out service from the staff, so welcoming and happy to split the bills into smaller groups for our party celebrating a family 40th.
Portion sizes very good and food very tasty.
It is a little bit more expensive than I would usually pay for a meal out, but it was a special occassion birthday for a family member so definitely worth it for a treat. They also made a special dessert with sparkly candle and birthday song for the birthday boy which was lovely!

Ordered takeaway of prawn toast, paper wrapped prawns and Singapore vermicelli. Delicious, hot, great flavours and super quick and slick service. Highly recommended and will return next time in Altrincham!
Went here for dim sum, nice little cosy restaurant, I like the feel and the stylish furniture, very friendly and polite staff & boss. Although price is slightly higher than other dim sum places but you get what you paid for! Boss ensures the quality of the food at a very high standard 👍 I would definitely go again. P.s. They have karaoke available on the 2nd floor 🎤🎶
one of the best meals i’ve had. the staff were enthusiastic and very respectful towards me. one by the name of geordan kept coming over to make sure everything was alright with my meal, will definitely be recommending to all of my friends.
Absolutely lovely. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and they answered all our questions so thoroughly. The food was delicious and the portions very generous, with free fruit and jelly for dessert. I would absolutely come again!

Every place you go to has differences. Some you notice immediately, others may take a little longer to share. Gonbay is a place where you immediately see the difference. The entire place screams luxury and great food. The smells just coming from the kitchen were fantastic.
I tend to rate places I eat based on a staple. Example: If a pizza place can't make a good garlic bread, then they aren't going to do much better with the more expensive stuff.
For a Chinese, the bar is set by prawn crackers. These were exquisite - and it's not often I say that about prawn crackers.
Coming with the prawn crackers, a hot towel to ensure you are refreshed before eating.
The starters and main courses that we ordered we on par with what I expected after tasting the prawn crackers. I highly recommend chicken cakes (think fish cakes but with chicken).
Overall, we will definitely be back, and hope to become regulars.
Quiet on a Sunday night in January but dealt with one of our parties dietary requirements excellently. Food was very nice, great portions and ambiance excellent. Trainee waitress well supported by other staff which was nice to see. Recommended
