Stumbled across this place during a visit to Ambleside. So glad we found it! Staff were lovely, location was great - especially if the sun is shining! The star of the show was the food, which was so tasty!
Would highly recommend and we will be back in the future!
There are dog friendly places and then there is The Apple Pie Cafe. From the moment we walked up with our small staffy the staff were so welcoming. I think they were more pleased to meet her than us 😂. I think the staff were taking it in turns to bring us stuff so they could all meet her which she loved.
The fact that the apple pie was amazing was great for us as well. To be honest though I would have made do with mediocre food knowing it wasn't any bother to take the pooch in.
Great food! We ordered a Cornish pasty and a potato and cheese pasty and they were very tasty. The service outside the cafe (while waiting to be seated) wasn’t that great, but the staff inside was very attentive. One thing I didn’t like was their tipping system, they ask if you’d like to add a tip before the actual service, which makes no sense to me.
Stopped by for lunch today. It was brilliant the little salad dish that came with our jacket potatoes was lovely. Something we would never of tried but loved it. Recommend the apple pie bakery unfortunately we didn't have cake next time though we will. Very reasonable pricing for the lakes which is nice.
Visited for breakfast, had the Bircher muesli which tasted great and filled me up for the rest of the day. The menu was varied and the specials were unique. The staff were friendly but there seemed to be a lot of them running around. Highly recommend.
Great food cooked freshly. Ace toilets up steep stairs. Dog friendly. Only gripe is that simplified menu means I probably couldn’t have had what I wanted: I’d have had about half of the cooked breakfast on offer then had marmalade and toast as sweet course . . . the cakes from the cake shop bit are superb.
Popped in for lunch and wasn't disappointed. Brunch butty was delicious sausages full of flavour. My partner's got chocolate hit the spot perfectly to warm her up on a cold winters day and my latte was full of flavour. Gutted I didn't have time to try the apple pie but will be back one day for it
Great venue where the food is excellent.
Be careful as some staff tell you card only and yet as all places they can and do take cash. Even after paying cash 5 minutes after ordering additional food another member of staff categorically told me card only and argued the fact. Another helpful member of staff came and sorted it by accepting cash no problem.
Shame some people are obstructive rather than helpful and spoil a business.
Still a great asset to Ambleside though.
Delicious food, cracking service. Nice and speedy. Loved the general vibe of the place. Didn’t choose anything sweet to eat this time around, but would visit again to try!
Surprisingly well priced considering the great location and cozy rooms. The bakery is excellent with both good pastries and real bread.
Rooms aren't huge but they are clean and warm and have cozy vibes. Showers work well. The room included real coffee and a cafetiere. Nice touch with some house made gingerbread as well.
Would definitely stay again.
Visited the cafe today with my twins in a double pram on my own. I could not have been made to feel more welcome. The staff were lovely! I had a coffee and a delicious scone and really enjoyed my time here. I'll definitely be returning soon. Thank you!
Went for the gluten free apple pie with vegan ice cream and was very pleased with the taste. It was a good sized portion of pie. Also got a gluten free brownie with vanilla ice cream. The brownie was a bit on the small side but tasted great. Would recommend for gluten free dessert.
Best sausage roll I've ever had! We went here twice on our trip and had fantastic hot chocolates, doughnuts, flapjacks, scones, and of course apple pie! Delicious bakery, great cafe. Would recommend to anyone!
Café with nice views of the Windermere valley and lots of nature around. Great patio for enjoying the sun, if you want. They have good coffee, and I loved the single shot macchiato! The Lake Land breakfast platter is big and delicious, especially the sourdough breads. They serve freshly made halloumi and avocado toast. Quite a lot of vegetarian options are available. I’m no big fan of pancakes, but if you have a sweet tooth, the Nutella pancake is for you. Parking is a bit tricky (the area requires parking discs), but a big parking lot is nearby (minutes walk) for £2.40 per hour. Overall, highly recommended!
We love this incredible B&B and their cafe is stunning. Breakfast portions are big and it's a good cost. The baguettes and savoury options (and their famous apple pie!) we're also incredible. We will be returning ASAP!
We really wanted to try here after seeing it look busy on previous visits to Ambleside and we wasn't disappointed. We've visited the bakery a few times and always been impressed with the tasty food but this was our first time in the cafe.We waited just a few minutes to be seated. The staff are really welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the steak and caramelised onion ciabatta which was cooked to perfection. Would recommend.
