We drove passed this place and spotted a queue outside, this is usually an indication of goodness worth waiting for.
There was a lot of variety inside, I opted for their hot sausage roll and apple pie which they put in a box.
The sausage roll was succulent, meaty and packed with flavour.
Finished off with their signature apple pie which was a decent size, we shared it and thought it wasn't too sweet and had just enough pastry to fruit ratio. I think I paid just over £7 for the both, not cheap but definitely tasted great.
Staff was polite and friendly too.
We wanted to have a seat for lunch and were a bit confused by the informations outside. We thought that we had to buy the food first and then can have a sit in their terrace area. After we paid we noticed a queue and understood that we bought our food to takeaway. It was fine as we found a little bench to have a sit. The sandwiches were good but the apple slice was the highlight. It was very good! Next time we would love to come and have a sit for lunch or a little afternoon treat.
Myself and my family have visited the apple pie bakery many times over the years and I’ve recommended it highly to friends and colleagues.
My last visit on Monday fell a little short of the norm. The apple pie is still as delicious as ever, and the potato and cheese pasty was also tasty. The lady who served us our apple pie made sure we had generous amounts of toffee sauce to accompany the pie after my sister asked for it and that was a lovely touch.
My main gripe was the teeny portion of a ‘tin of fries’ we were given. The tin itself isn’t large to begin, it was only half full and given that we were charged just over £4 for the pleasure of it I was less then happy. Given my sisters penchant for not wanting to complain or be troublesome I was asked not to say anything but I think next time I’ll stick to only ordering coffee and dessert if I visit.
One of the best places I've been to for a very long time. I had lunch here and I would highly recommend this place. The bread was so perfectly prepared and nicely presented. The drinks were lovely and they had a group of fantastic staff..It was the best meal after a long drive to the Lakes...thank you..
Lovely setting, right by the river in ambleside. Plenty of setting and dog friendly. The cakes were delicious, I would highly recommend the apple pie. The homemade raspberry lemonade was also lovely.
Staff were helpful even when our dog had a little oops moment!
Enjoyed a lunch here on a rainy day. Was brilliant. The menu is varied and really good value
All the staff were welcoming and happy to help
I didn’t stay but my dog and I called in for breakfast before heading to Grasmere. They have a humble selection of all the favourites, all reasonably priced, but I chose a bowl of muesli to go with a coffee. Plus some locally made dog treats (not for me). The food was good, fast service, friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Nice cafe on the Main Street. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable when I enquired about allergy information. Gluten free flour used in the cakes. Products are well labelled and a great choice for those with allergies. Nice cafe around the side of the building too.
The spiced apple pie was just perfect - I had cream and ice cream with mine! Although there was a wait to get seated it was very well managed with menus given out and some hot food pre-ordered to minimise time to get your order once seated.
Went for a lunch with the family.
Got the most amazing coronation chicken, as well as spiced apple pie and apple cider. THE BEST APPLE pie you will find in Europe, feels like the apple pie they serve you at the entrance to heaven, paired with the organic cider creates the most hedonistic combo imaginable.
