Good food, but could have been great, the steaks two of our party have were quarter fat. Everything else and other four meals were excellent

Went in for the 2 course Sunday lunch. Both starters were great, with the mushroom & sage soup being such a pleasant surprise that myself who hates mushroom soup absolutely would’ve got it. The roast lunches were delicious and absolutely filling. All the sides to the roast cooked perfectly and the lamb & pork were both beautiful. Looking forward to be able to go back again as one of the best roasts I’ve had. The staff were friendly and helped where they could. With the service quick between each course.

Delicious meal and very helpful staff. Thank you for being so accommodating today, we booked very last minute for 8 people and didn’t realise they weren’t dog friendly. Rather than turning us away, they rearranged tables outside, put the umbrellas up and made sure we were comfortable with blankets. Amazing food and a great finish to our morning hike. We’ll be back.

Only popped in for a quick drink to get out of the rain. Saw plates of good food emerging from the kitchen Me and the wife ended up having the steak and ale pie and chips & a bottle of red Well recommend All this on a rainy Thursday afternoon Atmosphere was good and staff very friendly 👌 👍 Price very reasonable. Will definitely call back again.

The building is lovely and old, lots of character. The food was delicious. Missed a drink off the order but brought one as soon as informed. Had to ask for a steak knife but again got one quickly when asked. The staff where lovely.

Absolutely perfect steak and ale pie without a sign of gristle or fat. Proper quality pub food made fresh!

I don't review restaurants often, but this was - no exaggeration - the best steak I've ever eaten, anywhere. It was 18 months ago I actually visited, and I still remember the steak. Saw it on my bank statements just now and felt motivated to come back and say something about it, that's how good it was. And I've been to plenty of places that pride themselves on their steaks. Interior is historically interesting and the place is pretty relaxed for being in such a tourist-frequented spot. Not the cheapest food, but considering the quality, well worth it.

It was quiet with just one other table with people. Service was great and food was wonderful. Best shepherds pie I have had. Husband loved his hamburger. By the time we left the place was really filling up!!
