The Priest Hole - Ambleside - Photo album

This was the best lunch we had in the Lake District. It was family friendly. The building was very cool. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My daughter wanted to go back again for the kids chicken. The meat pie was outstanding!
We’ve been to Ambleside twice but have managed to dine at The Priest Hole 4 times - it really is that good! This is a notch above your average gastropub. High quality, changing menu that delivers every time. As you’d expect, the food is accompanied with an extensive drinks menu. The service is truly
So full of atmosphere and the history in the walls can be felt!! Food outdtanding, happy smiley attentive service, welcoming but not pretentious. 10/10* all round for us
A really great discovery. We have had the best lamb shank ever. The other dishes were also delicious. The food here is really good and authentic. Kitchen and the service, which is super, attentive and fast, respond to special requests in an uncomplicated manner. Gluten-free is also no problem for mo
Glad we booked as it filled up quickly at 17:00. Roast Beef and Lamb Sunday Dinners with sticky toffee pudding for afters. Washed down with a bottle of Rosé and some local beers for me. Top notch food, drinks and service. Bare in mind the tables need to be vacated after a set time at busy periods
A great meal with substantial portions. I had their steak and ale pie and I must say it was one of the best pies I have had in a restaurant. A proper pie with pastry all round and baked in a tray, school dinner style. Really very good! Chips and vegetables weren't half bad either! Too full for
We eat here everytime we visit Ambleside. The quality of food & service is always excellent. Booking a table is always recommended.
The staff squeezed us in for an early dinner. They were fully booked later. We were well taken care of on the outside patio. My fish pie with a gratin crumb topping was excellent. I should not have had the sticky pudding but it was soooo good. We'll have to start sharing desserts my walking is
Great restaurant, lovely staff and delicious food.
Stayed in Ambleside for the week and had my favourite meal here. Highly recommended but book if you are making a special trip as it gets really busy. I had a tasty red Thai curry with chicken and my partner had the steak, both were gorgeous as was the atmosphere and staff. Go, you won't be disappoin
Good quality, fresh, delicious food. Traditional English food done well. Excellent Steak & Ale pie, crispy, chunky, generous fish & chips with beautiful flaky fresh fish inside, friendly and competent service. Food was served hot and quickly even when busy. Family friendly. A delight!
Absolutely gorgeous steak and sides. Rest of family had steak pie, fish and chips and burgers. All amazing seasoned really well and cooked perfectly. Puddings were gorgeous too, highly recommend
Excellent food here! So glad we called in. The steak pie was incredible and so was the burger. Our friends also had a great chicken curry and the fish & chips, both of which were also fantastic! All home made and cosy vibe to the place too. The lady that served us was very friendly and welcoming! Ca
On a busy Easter weekend, Nicole and small team handled everything amazingly. Sunday roasts were great but everyone's food looked tasty! Will return when in Ambleside.
We stumbled upon this cosy restaurant during a very wet afternoon, and were made to feel very welcome by the staff - as very obvious-looking tourists we found that wasn't the case at the couple of places we tried prior to this. This place has a lovely atmosphere. We ordered their platters and some
We loved eating here. Great restaurant, quiet atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Food was great quality. Highly recommended!
Great building, friendly and helpful staff. Great food for a decent price that outshone local high end restaurants in terms of taste and value for money.
The steak and chips pie was very good.
