By far our favourite campsite! Pitches are really spacious with lots of room for children to play. Short walk from the toilet block which was always really clean- showers were also nice and hot! Great being so close to the lake, you can hire canoes, paddle boards etc from the campsite, however we brought our own.
Really peaceful on a night, no issues with noise.
There’s little rabbits hopping about the site which my children loved, along with our little duck visitors who came right up to our tent!
Lovely park and badminton net with equipment left to play with. Staff were always really helpful. Well stocked shop on site which sold amazing pastries and coffee!
There’s no cars allowed on the tent field, which was a slight inconvenience with having a heavy air tent, however, there are wheelbarrows around to take your stuff from the car to the pitch. It also felt safe for the children to run around without worrying about cars on the field.
We can’t wait to return! Such a chilled out campsite with loads to do!
This is our favourite campsite. We usually stay in the woodland pitches as it’s so quiet and beautiful! Staff are amazing! A big thank you to Victoria and the staff over the bank holiday weekend. Really helpful and lovely with the kids.
Thank you for another amazing trip x
I had a great 5 night stay on pitch 210 (Right on the edge of the lake with a mazing views). The staff were great (especially Chris and Ella at the activity Base), the shop is well stocked and the Pizza van was amazing.
The only negative point was that the toilet/shower blocks tend to get very dirty/muddy and there isn't a mop & bucket or cloths for you to clean up after yourself when finished - it would be an easy fix and make the facilities a lot nicer for all.
Amazing place! Staff were incredibly friendly and resourceful. Facilities worked well and were spotless. Plenty of walks, with the nearby castle being very easy to get to. The campsite is a bit away from nearby towns but there's plenty of cheap transport close by to get to them quickly (ferry and buses during the day, taxis at night). The highlight for us were the views, especially when out kayaking (also available on site).
We will absolutely be back to this site!
We loved Low Wray, absolutely stunning campsite.
Calm and quiet.
Direct access to Windermere and paddle board/kayak hire.
Nice little shop and lovely pizza from the on site pizza van.
Floors of the toilet/shower block seemed to be constantly wet and muddy but the weather hadn’t been good.
Wow just got back from 4 days camping here and it was absolutely wonderful, the lake front sites are highly recommended for such a nice view. I will definitely be back again, this is my new favorite camp ground in the country.
Only downside as mentioned the bathrooms were a bit dirty but I’m sure it’s hard to keep clean when it’s wet and rainy and everyone is tracking water in, the lovely site and grounds made up for this though and it did not hinder our experience.
Very spacious, even when full. Lots of activities to do on site. Facilities were good, men's bathroom could have been cleaned more often.
Price was a bit high with 30 for a night.
Booking is required during high season. Especially if you want to stay longer than one night.
We've just come back from a week in the lakes staying at Low Wray and it is probably the best campsite I have ever stayed at.
We chose a lakeside pitch which was absolutely gorgeous (see pics).
The site was fully booked but never felt overcrowded, never had to queue for the toilets or shower (both clean and lovely).
No groups meant the site was quiet after dark, which made it even more relaxing and peaceful. Everyone seemed to respect each other's space and the nature around- no rubbish left out or antisocial behaviour!
There is a (nice) pizza van, cafe and shop on site too which is a bonus. Also on-site activities; canoe, kayak, bike hire.
Highly recommended, thankyou to all the staff who clearly work very hard to keep the space lovely.
Had the most lovely stay at this site, facilities were spot on & very clean, the pitches well spaced out in some gorgeous locations. I had a woodland pitch and loved it. Windermere lake a short walk from site with lots to do on site such as water activities, bike hiring, play areas and a very well stocked shop. The site itself is very spacious with so many lovely walking trails and routes. I lost my bracelet and it was handed into reception when I had 0 hope of ever finding it again, just the nicest site with the most lovely staff. Highly recommend.
Took us in on a same-day call, magnificent spot with clean facilities, gorgeous paths to walk nearby and sights of cattle, sheep and deer.
The kayak/canoe is a must! In fact it is the best part about this campsite. Amazing experience to park and walk up to the castle.
Only downside is a member of reception attempted to overcharge us double the price instated in the call but luckily we had a confirmation so only paid the original amount. They were all very nice nevertheless.
