I visited this cafe recently; it’s very pretty and picturesque. The baristas were warm and friendly, and the oat brown sugar iced latte I had was genuinely the best coffee I've ever tasted. I also had a bean salad which was refreshing, although maybe a bit pricey for what it was. I've seen some reviews labeling the cafe as 'restrictive' due to it being predominantly vegan. However, I'd argue the opposite. By having a vegan-friendly menu, the cafe ensures that a wider range of individuals, including vegans, vegetarians, lactose intolerants, and others, can enjoy it. People who eat meat and fish can still eat vegan food. Rather than seeing it as limiting, it's broadening the scope of who can dine comfortably here. As a vegetarian, I was really happy with the range of choices, and didn’t feel like anything was lacking by it being vegan and not having dairy products. Moreover, it's worth mentioning that they do offer cow milk, so it's not a strictly vegan cafe.

Lovely mostly plant based cafe at Wray Castle. Loads of options and reasonable prices. The outside seating is really great amongst the castle gardens and old stone walls. A really nice surprise for us Vegan walkers.

If you're a vegan, this cafe is phenomenal. If you're not a vegan, this cafe is phenomenal! Really, the wide range of plant based options was incredible. From a simple lunch to pastries to the most delicious freshly baked sweet treats! It provided a welcomed break from the rain with cosy little spots to sit inside as well as outdoor seating.

Joeys' is a 100% vegan cafe and we visit every time we visit the Lakes which is quite regularly and it would not be the same if we didn't. Its in the grounds next to Wray Castle (also worth a visit) and there is plenty of parking and outdoor space. Inside the cafe is lovely and welcoming with cosy corners to sit and a fantastic selection of vegan cakes as well as sandwiches, stews, soups, vegan ice cream and vegan products available to buy. The menu changes regularly so you never know what you'll be eating, but that's all part of the fun. We visited in November and had a golden beetroot and horseradish soup with sourdough and two chocolate caramel slices. Our last visit in December we went for brunch as they had Bam Bam toast on the menu, consisting of sourdough topped with peanut butter, chia seeds, cacao nibs, toasted coconut flakes and dessicated coconut and maple syrup. A large coffee to go with our Bam Bam toast and we were in heaven. We took two chocolate brownies away with us for later and they were divine. Joey's is one of my all time favourite places to visit, I love it and can't wait to return and see what's on the menu.

Delighted to find this wonderful cafe. The food was so so good, having tried the pasties, sausage rolls, a wrap, slice of pizza and the pecan Danish. Lovely staff and delicious coffee. Yes it's vegan, which means everyone can eat there, making it utterly inclusive, contrary to a lot of the negative reviews on this subject. Based on the lack of options in the region for vegan people, this was refreshing and a great find, will be going again.

Tried quite a few things and all amazing! Best pecan pastry I've ever had in my life and coffee was great too! Incredible cafe, and even better because its vegan! Non-vegans wouldn't even be able to tell ;) 5 stars isn't enough!!

Lovely vegan food with plenty of choice in friendly atmosphere. Ignore the vegan haters posting negative reviews out of principle on here (we’re not vegan btw but still loved it). Also, to the liars below saying it’s £4 a coffee, it’s not - see pic, Sept 23.

Called in by chance as we were soaking wet on a walk (didn’t know it was here before) absolutely superb. Very friendly staff and excellent tea and coffee too. Dog friendly and it was immaculately clean. Definitely return and would highly recommend. Hidden gem. Tried a cheeky chilli bean roll and it was home made and delicious too.

Called in after walking the grounds of Castle Wray on a very wet blustery day. Dog was welcome inside even though she was wet and dirty, we sat in the snug area, which whilst very snug was also very comfortable, even with our wet dog trying to make friends with the dog next door to us. Tea, Flat white and florentine were all excellent.

Lovely cafe at Castle Wray. We tried the pasty, pizza and brownie. All absolutely delicious. Those giving the cafe a bad review just because they didn’t know it was vegan seems very unfair - that doesn’t mean it’s a bad cafe: As mentioned in a previous review - the young girl taking the payment was nonchalant to the point of rudeness.
