Called in on a whim for lunch whilst out hiking. We were a smidge early for the kitchen but grabbed a drink and sat in the beautiful garden to peruse the menu.
Staff were attentive and came to take our order as soon as the kitchen was open. Delicious food, priced appropriately for the quality. Highly recommended a visit to the Jack Russell.
Myself and my husband had a lovely stay at The Jack Russell Inn. Gifted by my sister as a birthday present, she couldn’t have chosen a more delightful place. The room was immaculate, we had everything we needed and more, dinner and breakfast was very tasty and the service was amazing from the beginning until the end of our stay. We would highly recommend this location and would love to stay again!

My vegan needs were catered for. Oat milk provided for the room, vegan breakfast options and vegan meals at the pub in the evening too. The room was spacious, the beds comfortable and the shower powerful. A great hotel. Highly recommend.
Would literally travel from US just to come back here. Lovely location and rooms. Also has the best steak I’ve ever ate. Even better than Fort Worth TX stockyard steak houses. This place has atmosphere!
Had a lovely time. We arrived early and said we were thing for a walk and would like an early check in if possible. We returned drenched to the skin 2 hours later and were delighted that the room was ready for us, two hours early. We were given towels to wipe down with while we waited to check in too. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We did wait a long time for food when we had a late lunch but the food was good. As others have said perhaps meat portions slightly on the small side for Sunday roast (I had rack of lamb with just two cutlets) but I would much rather a small bit of quality perfectly cooked meat than lots of something less nice. I still couldn't finish the meal. My only other comment is that the beetroot capacio is too vinigary for my taste. Beetroot is so much nicer roasted or barely picked so it has a crunch. But it's not like I didn't eat it all! I would return and it's perfect for walking with beautiful views. We also enjoyed shopping in near by Hungerford.
Our second year staying at the Jack Russell. Maintain consistently high standards. Stunning traditional pub atmosphere with an excellent restaurant. The rooms are amazing, clean and well-decorated. Staffs are very friendly and a plus for the beautiful and well-behaved dogs. ❤️

Beautiful pub in a stunning location. Food is delicious and the place is very dog friendly and kid friendly. The accommodation looks amazing too so we will likely be returning to stay some time
Lunch for 4. Good choices on the menu. Beautifully cooked, well presented. 4 clean plates and sadly no room for a desert. Good value and a brilliant location.
